[OoC: Real life continues to be very distracting.  ]

"If we were making a path, you'd be correct," Simon replies. "But if we just focused on cutting our way through the more dense areas so they don't slow us down that should cut down on some travel time."
Betimi simply readies her crossbow and keeps a watchful eye out in all directions (literally, with her eyestalk swivelling to look behind), as Crozar and Kubo set to work widening the path as they go.
Kubo plucks a few hairs from his beard and tests the edges of his hand axes, looks at Crozar and says "Well I guess we gots us a fair bit o'work ahead of us breaken trail for our friends here! I suppose we should be a setting to it!".
Crozar nods and begins clearing a path using directions from Ning and Nang to course the easiest path with the fewest growths to cut through.
Selina simply draws her blade and nods in agreement and understanding. With Betimi and Tomeal, they would form the group's defense...assuming anything besides a revolting blob of flesh came to attack them. Otherwise...she simply hadn't the slightest clue how to repel such a threat, but had a feeling her goddess, whom she still followed as devoutly as before, whom had been with her her whole life and had steadily become a more visible element, would be there to provide some idea to assist her.
[OoC: At this point, life is just a series of frustrating delays.   Undecided  ]

[OoC: Betimi and Selina have made conflicting statements.  Who is taking the lead?  Betimi said Kubo and Crozar are trying to clear the way and Selina said, her, Tomeal and Betimi would be the group's defense.  Betimi is using a crossbow so it's likely she will want to keep to the middle.

Kubo and Crozar likely have the best weapons for cutting through this mess but any slashing weapon will speed up travel.  Ning/Nang could also burn their way through the stalks every 1d4 rounds but keeping control of the fire would be very difficult.  But maybe you don't care what happens to the patch of heaving flesh.  If the Plow was with her, the Old Woman would likely be more useful, though the resulting bloodbath might be a little disgusting. ]
[[Er, no. I meant that the three of us will be available to spring to the group's defense when needed. She's staying behind the trailblazers for now.]]

[[EDIT: And maybe we don't care about the gore and just want to get out of here as soon as possible.]]

[[OOC: This almost makes going back to the farm for that tempting. Smile]]
So Crozar and Kubo take the lead...

[Yikes!  The two lowest level characters in front.   Confused ]

They start to hack their way through the forest of 20' to 30' long poles that remind each of you of giant hairs sticking out of fleshy pours.  Below the skin you see the vague shapes of veins leading off in every direction with some attaching to even stranger organs, secreting whatever fluids that keep this landscape of flesh alive.  Since your pace has slowed down, you've started to notice the fleshy matter begin accumulating on your feet to the point where eventually you need to take some time to hack chunks of the flesh off bottom and sides of your boots.  Each slash causes spurts of blood to splash everywhere including onto whatever your wearing and onto the people beside you.  At least the blood doesn't seem to be growing on you like the flesh but it's makes a mess and soon starts to make an awful stench if not somehow cleaned away.

[Stopping a moment to let people respond]
Ningalu, who since he is flying is uncovered in the gore, advises that he does not have any prestidigitation magics that can help, that spell is not among his abilities.
