The cave is searched. You find a lot of bones which is evidence that the portal has been depositing prey in caves for a long time. Until now, the mutated wolves were thriving so it's likely these mutants were the portal jumpers final destination. There's also a lot of small pieces of Fur-bees in the remains. It's no wonder the little creatures reacted so violently toward the mutants when agitated. Digging under the piles of bones, chiten, wings and fur you find a couple of items that Simon identifies as magical that have survived being a chew toy. First is a strange belt. When carefully inspecting it you notice it has a button in the middle of the belt buckle. You also find three potions, a couple of scrolls inside an adamantine scroll tube, and a beat up, heavy satchel with a locked odd book with a cover made from some kind of animal skin that's in surprisingly good condition.
Crozar will also retrieve its rivebow from the corner where it had gotten tossed during the last "playtime" with the wolves while helping to search the cave. It is the size of heavy crossbow, but in the plant's hands, especially compared to the scale of it's other weapons, it seemed diminutive.
After everything has been gathered it says, "I consider my rescue reward enough so do not expect or request a share of these findings, but I would be very interested in reviewing the book and scrolls with whomever else takes them. I am a researcher, and that book looks very much like something a researcher, explorer or thaumaturge would journal in." It opens the hipbag on it's belt and pulls out a small battered notebook of it's own by way of example.
Crozar is particularly intrigued by the anti-Torque wand. "Where did you find such a wonder?" it asks Ning and Nang between spells. It will also assist with Spellcraft in identifying things (no spells to help though).
