"I will be more effective closer to the front.  While I am not a front-line combatant my throwing crystals are short range weapons, not long. Even the 5 feet in front of Nacesh may make a huge difference.  Whereas that 5 feet will make no difference for the wand of magic missiles."

"Master Piper, get your people down and then get them to hiding while we press on."
Piper listens to Jonath and when he asks about what lies beyond the tunnel, the kobold pauses for a moment and then says, "Our future.  And I don't know of any traps my people might have set at the behest of the creature.  But I implore you to hurry.  If you are not careful Unreth will escape our grasp and then who knows what he might do.  My knowledge of the creature tells me Unreth won't go away quietly.  If he does escape, he will be back with likely more numbers.  He will destroy everything we've built!"

Tomeal replies to Betimi, "That's fine.  I only put Nacesh in the middle because arcane spell casters usually prefer to placed in a position where they have the best defense.  I'm sure Nacesh won't mind being moved back one place."  The warrior looks to the Sorcerer for his reaction.

The other kobolds will be rescuing their people from the ceiling while you all talk to one another.
Gilley sighs, shaking his head slightly. This group has an amazing habit of putting themselves in danger.

"All right. Let's go then."
Selina turns to Gilley and grins tiredly, seeming to read his mind a little.

"No point in living if you cannot feel alive, yes?"
Nacesh smiles at Selina.
"You certainly can raise spirits, honey. Let's kick some serious arachnid butt!" he exclaims, trying to aid Selina in bolstering spirits of everyone, including kobolds.

To Betimi and Tomeal, he expresses his agreement.
"Second from back is fine."
"And I will, as suggested, take point. If we're all ready then, let's get moving." With that, Jonath moves into the tunnel, passing carefully through the masses of torn webbing and further on down into the tunnel, keeping his eyes and ears alert for any signs of danger.

OOC - did Piper provide some details on the layout of the levels below? I fail to notice...
[OoC:  This is what was said:  Piper listens to Jonath and when he asks about what lies beyond the tunnel, the kobold pauses for a moment and then says, "Our future.

No one asked Piper further questions. ]

When you're ready, Jonath begins leading the rest of you down the web lined staircase that leads deeper into the earth.  After carefully traveling about 100' down the stairs the stench of death suddenly assaults your nostrils.  Covering your noses you descend another 30' when you finally enter another level of the mine.

[FYI: Each square is 10'
  • Jonath is black
    Tomeal is orange
    Selina is blue
    Betimi is purple
    Nacesh is red
    Gilley is green

The view shown is the extent of Jonath's Darkvision.  With torchlight, anyone with normal vision can only see 20' normal (2 squares) and up to 40' shadowy (4 squares).]
[OoC remember Betimi also has Darkvision, as well as Low-light vision, which doubles the torchlight for her to 40/80']
[OoC: I remembered that after I blocked it all out. But since you're around 15' behind Jonath who has 60' darkvision that would only give you about 5' more of shadowy illumination. Which wouldn't reveal anything of importance. But I will remember the next time I update the map.]
