Pleased that his attack actually worked, Jonath notices one of the creatures detaching from Mardak. He hoped it had simply had its fill and was going to fly away, but he did not want to risk it attacking again, so he swipes at it with his staff as it pulls free, connecting, but with only a glancing blow.

As the stirge detaches from Mardak, Jonath reacts quickly and strikes it with his staff. The critter looks beat up but it's still trying to get away.

Mardaks pays not attention to the other blood suckers eating his insides but swings at the thing fleeing.

Mardak swings at the stirge but misses it. The Hexblade can almost hear it buzz, "Na na nana na," as it flies 40' away. You know it will likely be gone soon.
The other stirge that's gimping away is within 5' so is still in melee range of Mardak and Jonath. (Remember to make your balance checks during your regular attack phase.)

Betimi takes careful aim with her crossbow at the stirge attempting to get away and
fires, narrowly missing.
Selina finally reaches combat, sees a lot of carnage and assesses her options quickly. She drops her mace, grabs her sling and lifts a convenient stone to place in it. Swinging the thong a few times, she releases it at the living stirge, hoping to do it some damage.
