Not really fooled by the illusion and aggression still fixed on the elf the cloaked figure moves after its prey, allowing not only Giant but Merri as well attacks of opportunity!
The elf, still prone, missed far and wide.
Giant's opportunity to attack!

Making advantage of the apparition's blind fury Giant's axe strikes through, severing the incorporeal head just a split second before it would've reached Merri who was busy retrieving her two-handed sword from the wide swing.
With a defiant wail, the apparition dissolves into nothingness.

"Next time we're in town we have to start tattooing marks on Giant for every undead he's killed!" Lugar announces then changes back to his old crusty grey self. He unties Merri and stows his rope before retrieving his pick.
"I suggest we split up and search room by room for the key to the cellar door, how's that sound?"
Merri stands up and dusts herself.
"You do it without me, how's that sound? I'm outta here.

I agree with Lugar, we have to search the rooms but have to stay together. You can search and I am readying to defend you, how's that sound?
First we should search these two rooms. If there is nothing we should break the beds and ceiling will collapse probably, maybe we can go upstairs then.
Next we should search the guard room, there was a lot of chests, cabinets and dead persons in that room some are under rocks.
"Fair enough Giant, we stick together but it will make the search longer. Maybe we should've asked the spirit where the key is hidden before you killed it again, hah!"
Hah-hah, we will ask the next one. Merri's safety is the first. Let us go start the search, do not waste the time then.
