Witchcraft.

Or in the cellar door. But first we have to eat and drink.
Indeed, it's been quite some hours since the four entered the cylinder invoked by the Chant of Ages. All looks calm and quiet at the moment; no creatures known to lurk around except the aquatic monsters-- and the trampling squad abovehead which can be heard occasionally.
"Alright, but if you want to stop and rest maybe we should go where there's no dead bodies lying around.  The smell."
Actually, the guards' bodies are pretty much scentless desiccated corpses. The patches of blood also dried up. If something then Merri's body next door is the most likely source of any stench but she's far from decomposition.
What's for dinner? Salted meat again or somebody has better?
I can try the key on the "arm" hook before rest if you want. Go for cover.

When everybody is far enough behind cover he hangs the key on the hook without touching the hook or the keystore. He is ready to jump out the door immediately.
Lugar takes cover and, holding his breath, keeps alert for any noise or movement.

Ooc - Lugar didn't bring trail rations. Maybe he could boil up some cavern creature stew? He can salt it for flavor Smile
ooc - Yeah, we have a kitchen, cauldrons and water. We can cook elven soup :-)
Held sigh, Giant places the key on the hook. There's no lightning, no acid-- but all can hear the rustling noise of nuts and bolts in action and a few seconds later a loud clank echoes in the distance.
Listen to gauge where the clank came from.
(1d20=5)+4= 9
From the distance. As in, "far away".
EDIT OOC - okay, maybe this is too uncertain after all. So all four assume this was somewhere within the building.
