Looking closely at the chest and with a quick consult with Melville, Bazz can identify that it is most likely under the effects of an Arcane Lock.
[OoC: Do we have means of magically opening the chest, or do we have to physically defeat the magic and risk destroying the chests contents?]
[[OOC: That is an option, although it should be noted that Arcane Lock makes the object harder to break as well. It is also possible to pick it, although significantly harder to do so. Finally, I believe Melville knows Knock, although I'm not sure if he has it prepared.]]

[OoC: It says it increases the DC +10 to 'break.' What about just destroying the chest with hit point damage?]

[[OOC: That is also an option, but has an equal or greater chance of damaging any fragile items inside as "breaking" it.]]
[[Can we test how heavy the chest is? ]]
"If we can lift the chest it might be better to send it over to our ship. If we break it open here, not only might we damage the contents, there might be something greek fire inside that would ignite the atmosphere!"
Testing it, Bazz realizes that it appears that the chest has been adhered to the floor of the ship via some means. [[Anyone can give me an investigation or arcana check to identify what is causing this effect]]
