[[OOC: Puffing on a cold pipe?  Or is he lighting a match?  If so, everyone but Bazz can give me a quick perception check to see if they can spot him in time.]]
Melville doesn't even make it down the stairs "Isn't that it over there?"

Navigation - advantage [1d20+2]=15+2=17; or [1d20+2]=20+2=22

As he begins to waddle down the stairs a strong push of flow brushes his crest-feathers and he can feel the instinctual tug that they have stumbled directly into the current they have been looking for.
Perception Check = [1d20+5]=10+5=15
(For Bazz's action) Rupert continues to man the jettison while trying to keep an eye open for any sign of the turtle ship, or anything else out in the flow.
[OoC:  Yes, it's cold.  It helps him think.  Tongue ]
Melville directs Chick into the flow of the river he had been searching for and after about 20 minutes of travel at speed, Ashheart blows the "all clear" for the crew to stand down.  Threadvine praises everyone for their quick initiative and especially calls out Rupert's quick thinking with the jettison and Cash's directive fire with the catapult as telling impacts to facilitating the escape.  In celebration, a few extra bottles of booze are broken out of stores for the next couple of meals.  [[Everyone can give themselves 200xp for decisive action in the first ship-to-ship combat, such as it was.]]

A couple of uneventful weeks follow, and even the ever-shifting rainbow flow gets boring and repetitious after awhile.  Ashheart proves to be a good repository of stories, and takes to working with Bazzalan and Anders to use prestidigitation and thaumaturgical effects to really add interest and impact to the numerous stories that they each have.  Particularly with Bazz's performer's cadence in the telling, the evening shows are the most popular thing on the ship.  Multiple float games of cards, dragon's gambit, dice and a weird rune game Royce teaches anyone who is interested are ongoing.

During this downtime is there anything that anyone wishes to do?
Does the Captain wiushe Melville to set up Arcane locks on any of the doors on the ship. A good idea would be the helmroom, it can be keyed to command word and all the crew, but make it nigh impossible for any sort of boarding party to gain easy access to our helmsman. Other than that. Melville will be trying to learen new languages if any of the crew are willing to teach him. The more languages he knows, the more effective a trader he will be.

[OoC:  I think you said we could learn things during down time?  Was that just languages or could we train in skills and feats.  I'm kind of interested in learning some sailing techniques.

And Bazzalan knows Sylvan Language.  He'd be interested in teaching if Melville would teach him his language.]
Rupert will try and learn the ruin game Royce is teaching, and practicing his martial arts techniques.

Just added some downtime info the the Rules thread.  There will be more coming, but should be enough to get started.
