The group then continues following the game trail until the sun is at its zenith. and hunger begins gnawing at them. They break for some trail rations and to relax for a few minutes. The first thing they realize is the forest has gone quiet. then they hear a shriek that freezes the blood in their bodies and they all look to the sky where they heard the screaming of the creature from. Then they see the large shadow fall among the trees and find themselves seeking cover and hiding places as a large reptilian form flies over head on the hunt.

Lucian realizes its a Wyvern out hunting and recalls what he knows about the beast. A wyvern is a venomous drake with a well-earned reputation for impatience and aggression. As much as 15 feet long and weighing up to 1,000 pounds, a wyvern’s resilient body allows it to crash talons-first into large prey without serious risk to itself. A wyvern uses its momentum to stun its target before injecting it with searing venom or carrying it over the side of a nearby cliff. Because a wyvern lacks the strength to haul its prey all the way to its nest intact, it is far more likely to lift and drop its victim over a gully or canyon and let gravity do its work before it descends to pick apart the carcass.
Conversation is of little interest to a wyvern, as the creature typically speaks only to taunt its prey, issue territorial claims, or demand tribute. Even so, many wyverns enjoy grim humor and tales of violent acts, particularly if those acts were committed by the storyteller. A wyvern properly appeased with meat, entertainment, and treasure sometimes agrees to provide assistance ranging from giving directions to serving as a mount for a powerful humanoid. However, these arrangements rarely last more than a few weeks before the wyvern’s pride, malice, or insolence inspires it to flee or even betray its allies. Only the truly cruel can cow a wyvern into servitude for an extended period, as most wyverns are so self-interested that they go out of their way to avoid helping others
Immediately Lucian whispers roughly. "Everyone be Still!" He put every effort into keep his voice low but loud enough for the party to hear him. His eyes still wide with awe and healthy amount of respect for how dangerous the thing was. "That, ladies and gentlemen, is a Wyvern."
Breezy actually says "Ooh" as he stares in awe a the creature flying. He forgets to hide somewhat but his natural camouflage probably helps him a lot especially from the air.
You- you don't think they eat gnomes do you? asked Toryn as he furtively huddled closer to the fighters. Why, there's barely any meat on our bones to get stuck in their teeth! Not worth the effort I say. Curiosity did get the better of him though, as he strained to get a better peek at the draconic creature.
having been raised in a military family, Following orders was second nature to Larz without even the slightest hesitation. The young cleric moved to the side away from the others and found a bunch of very thick bushes to hide under.
Being used to hiding through out her life, she practically squeezed herself inside a nearby tree, only emerging after the potential threat was out of the vicinity. As she stepped out though, she said to Toryn, Oh, I'm sure for you, the wyvern would make an exception.
Oriana stills at Lucian's words, stopping most of her movement to help avoid the flying creature's notice.
Seeing many of the group had their eyes on the sky, she decided to train hers on the underbrush in case these Tatzlwyrm decided to use the wyvern as a distraction against the party.
