Also, her calling him "kid" is hardly an insult.  Let's put it this way: when Han kept calling Luke that same term, was it an insult?

Luke was a kid and Jendu is a Senator.  And her calling him kid in a different context, like say they were in a melee or hanging out on ship, would be a totally different story.  Also, his 'Madame' comment should be seen the same way as the 'kid' comment.  Just some lighthearted ribbing.

And Jendu doesn't think She will fly off the handle at him.  Not in front of all these people and a perspective employer (whomever that might be).  She's more professional than that.   She might have words with him later, tho.  But to fly off the handle at someone who replied using the same agist jest that she used, would seem a little crazy.  It would be like her kicking him in the shin, so he does the same to her and then she gets mad at him for kicking her.

No, that was the insult. Looking tough is one thing. Deliberately provoking a heavily armed warrior with a chip on her shoulder that he *knows* she has had for quite some time is quite another, and not the smartest thing for him to do.

He wasn't deliberately provoking her.  He wasn't even trying to look tough.  He was using humor to defect her 'kid' comment.  If he were trying to look tough, he would returned her stare down.  Instead, I specifically stated that he was remaining calm because of his experience in the prisons and because he needed to show he wasn't easily intimidated.  Humor is a good way to defuse the situation.  He didn't know she would be so touchy about her age.  If she could call him 'kid' then why can't he joke about her age especially since they are assumed to have been through a lot together?  Also, if situations were reversed and it was Korstyn negotiating with other Mando's, he wouldn't dream of making a disrespectful comment about her in front of them.  It wouldn't matter how close of friends they were with each other.
This is not about age. She called him “kid” once, then he proceeded to make offhand comments about her vision, her appearance, and something that a woman might react to as being a vague suggestion of her being a harlot. All in the same comment, and all in a defensive rebuke for her calling him ‘kid.’

What he said were only words.  Words that among friends could be seen as a joke.    She then proceeded to stare him down in an attempt to intimidate him.  He took her point and didn't make any more comments.  He didn't even threaten that he could contact his contacts to tell them, "hey, this woman is trying to intimidate me.  Maybe we shouldn't use her."  I thought about it, but then decided that Jendu wouldn't try to destroy her reputation.

I'm not going to pretend that perhaps eluding to her being a escort might have been pushing it.  But don't pretend she didn't give it back to him...

Quote: You may think you have something on me, boy, but you don't have the money, you don't have the power, and you don't have the leverage.  You are here to ask me to find this informant for you when I could very easily take the Empire's contract instead, or just walk away.  You want my skills?  Learn your place."

She called him a 'boy,' 'poor,' 'powerless,' and then told him to 'learn your place.'  Which is quite the comment considering she's a Bounty Hunter and he's a Senator.

But he took it because he knew he was probably a little out of line.  So Jendu responded to her formally and explain the reason why he was here, as a messenger.  He then politely offered to help the group, which includes her, fix their shuttle.
I’m not at all pretending anything. He attacked, she defended herself. That’s all. I might add that she could have physically attacked him but showed what I feel is admirable restraint. Mandalorians value honor above all else and a personal attack presses right up against that and demands a response.

Look, I’m just telling you to be careful how he interacts with her. Whether they parted on decent terms or not, she’s very fragile and that’s not a good thing. For anyone.
By the way...she's not just a bounty hunter, she's also Force sensitive and a warrior princess. It just so happens that she rejected the "princess" part.

Noted.  But being a Mandalorian doesn't give Korstyn a, I can be a bitch and you can't do nothing about it because I have a big gun and armor, card.  It's assumed that Jendu and Korstyn has been through some stuff together.  She can't assume he's going to react to her the way an NPC might react.  They likely saved each other's lives at least a couple of times in Prison.  That should mean something.  At least it would to Jendu.

it could be argued that since she knows he is not a boy, after all he held his own in that prison, that by calling him boy she took the offensive first and he was the one defending.. but with what if she had any sense motive was with he thiught was friendly humour..  more of an attck /rposte/counter attack situation-- he's a Senator.. words AREweapons

Neither of you would have escaped without the other, same with Garlen, the wookie and the female pilot, whose names I am forgetting at the moment
