[OoC:  Actually, under Jedi on Page 39 (On the right hand side about a third of the way down) it states, "You start play with a lightsaber provided by your master.  Later, you can build your own lightsaber."

It's the reason why Shunna started with a Lightsaber.

Jedi are Jedi.  If you want to be from another Force Tradition then you can be any other class, you just need to (or should!) buy the Force Sensitivity Feat at 1st Level.  Without F.S. at 1st level the UTF skill isn't a class skill for you.  Then you would have to wait until you had a Feat available to pick up the Skill Training Feat to be able to use the UTF skill.  Just buying Force Sensitivity at 1st level is just so much easier.

Shunna started as a Scout so I had to waste a feat to buy Force Sensitivity.  If I Started out as a Jedi then I would have got it for Free.  But I wanted Shunna to have more skills (5+int bonus) than a Jedi gets (2+int bonus) as well as the Evasion Talent.

If Callie is not a Jedi then she doesn't have to take Jedi.  She can take 4 levels of Soldier (or whatever) and still pick up Force powers.  But she wouldn't have access to the Jedi Talents though but I think there are other Force Talents she can pick up.

Quote:Callie has neither lightsaber nor proficiency to wield it. Though I do hope to change that down the road.

I didn't read your background but Jedi get Force Sensitivity and Weapon Proficiency: Simple weapons and Weapon Proficiency: Lightsabers, for free.  If for some reason you didn't get any of these then I hope you traded the things you lost for something equally beneficial.

Oh, Shunna is correct.  I allowed Callie to waive off having a lightsaber at 1st level Jedi, as she started as Soldier at 1st level, and later acquired Jedi class, but you would have had to spend a feat (presumably at character level 3, at same time as acquiring Jedi 1) on Skill Training: Use the Force.  This would mean likely losing Improved Disarm, or Martial Arts II.

Sorry, I mussed that when reviewing Callie before.
While I like SAGA I wish the rules were a little more clear about this kind of thing. I didn't even notice there aren't any beginning force using classes until DM Vitkyng mentioned that not every character who takes Jedi gets a Lightsaber.  But I remembered Shunna did start with a Lightsaber.  Then I realized that you don't need to be a Jedi to pick up Force Powers and Talents.  You just can't pick from any of the Jedi specific abilities.

If I would have known this Shunna likely wouldn't have been a Jedi at all.  She hasn't even attacked anyone with her Lightsaber yet.  Confused   Oh well, live and learn.   Rolleyes
Hi everybody,
I'm glad to see this game kept alive and appreciate DM Vitkyng's efforts. Obviously I have let many people in many games down on this site, for that I am sorry I did that to you. I was going through some very tough times personally with the death of a very good friend and marriage problems. I retreated deep into my man-cave. From what i've been able to read it looks like DM Vitkyng is doing an excellent job with picking up the pieces and I certainly don't want to step on your toes or sidetrack what you've done. The characters in this game were very lively and my mind would always wander back to the fun had rping with you all. I hope this post doesn't disturb the game or fun, just thought an explanation was in need for leaving you all high and dry.

May the Force be with you,
Nerdred
Welcome back!  Real life does that sometimes.

Vitkyng waited until around mid November before taking over so we really only just restarted.

You would be more than welcome to join in the fun.  We are quite literally only 6 rounds of combat from where you left off. I'd even think it great if you took over Ubi Sunt as a character, created following the character creation rules you yourself laid out.

I know for me getting the chance to kick back, and play rather than DM can be a great escape from stress.
As for other games you were in, you should be able to get Vidar, Forge, et al back up and running fast and if you wish check out my 'yet to start' Pathfinder game
Nice to see you're still among the living. We all have to go through those rough patches some time.
Sorry for the delay been busy with the Anova game and neglecting this one.. will be posting tomorrow
Hello all I find myself pulled here from the SWC forums. I will be looking at creating a character to join you all in the days ahead and am curious what kind of skills set exist among the remaining players? Do you need a healer, a meat shield, or pilot?
