[IC] Chapter 2-3: Safe Haven
(04-06-2017, 08:24 AM)DM Surranó Wrote: The tiny elf exhales slowly, apparently considering how to answer Portho when Toot's improving Common chimes in. It is now Myshnue's turn to roll his eyes. Then he answers, slowly and articulately to ensure that nobody gets a hypertension in the brains.

"I. Am. An. Elven. Fairy. Not a dryad, okay? Dryads live in ancient oaken trees. Like this one." - he finishes by jabbing his thumb towards the tree behind him.

Hearing the Elven Fairy 'articulate' his words insultingly slowly caused Toot to slightly grit his teeth.  Toot had risen far above his lowly Jermlaine upbringing and felt his common was actually quite good.  There were some words he did sincerely mispronounced but on occasion, especially when dealing with certain big folk, Toot would purposely mangle the pronunciation their race or their names just because they expected him to be stupid.  But the nerve of this tiny, little, Elvin Fairy who was the same size as Toot and therefore did not trigger the Gigaphobia (Fear of large creatures) that Jermlaine had of all Big Folk really pissed him off.  So Toot begins to untangle himself from Boo's fur to go give this snooty, tiny, Elvin fairy a real, 'what for!'

Quote:Turning back to Portho, he replies,
"I can't tell if Matron is a dryad, though. How am I supposed to know when I'm not supposed to see her, ever?"

"Me wonders if tiny Elvin fairy see better with two black eyes," Toot mumbles in Jermlaine, under his breath, while rolling up his sleeves.
While closing in to melee range, Toot considers his own words earlier. Seriously, asking this elven fairy or whatever it was, whether he was a dryad, that must have sounded like a crazy idea, indeed, at least for anyone outside Toot's jermlaine head.
Lugar holds back chuckles at the miniature brawl about to happen.  He briefly wonders who he would put his money on but remembers they are in a sacred clearing.  He knew the penalties for violating the priestesses of Elestraee and didn't want to think of what these Fey would do if they felt slighted.  Any sign of disrespect may harm their chances of completing their mission so he decided to step in.

"Toot! Not here, not now." He says and stands between the two boxers.
[OoC: I just want to point out that Toot did not yet approach the Elvin Fairy.  He only pulled himself out of Boo's fur and rolled up his sleeves.

Also, it was my mistake.  When asking about being a diedad (Dryad) Toot was referring to the matron not the Elvin Fairy. ]

Toot will look up at Lugar and with a huff of irritation he slowly rolls his sleeves back down and whispers,  "Fine... he can keep his teeth.  For now."

Toot's reaction was for the most part just instinct.  It wasn't often Jermlaine met someome their size who couldn't squish them in an instant!  Also the fairy is Seelie who are naturally at odds with Jermlaine who are usually if not always Unseelie.  But even all this wasn't enough to overcome Toot being able to see the wisdom in Lugar's words.  So instead, Toot just crawls backward between Boo's front legs and hides himself in his companion's fur again.
The tiny elf shows obvious signs of disappointment.

"I know your kind, unseelie. But we are on sacred territory so I have to spare your butt as long as you behave."
[OoC:  I edited this post slightly because I forgot the fairy had already done this to SG.  Don't want to be accused of being copy-cat or anything.   Tongue  ]

Toot looks at the tiny elf like he has drool dripping off his chin.  Then while casting his gaze upward and biting the corner of his lip like he's thinking of a response, Toot lets out a loud, "hummmmm," at the same time as casually scratching his chin with his middle finger.

Me too. - he thinks and starts blinking because he is bored of waiting here. Usually he likes forest but not this one. He is confused here.
"Hey Toot, you mentioned getting organized and Portho mentioned a silencing spell.  Well it seems we have time to start preparing ourselves... Merri, Shanna, the counsel mentioned something about spells being affected by the, the, this place.  Have you tried casting a spell here yet?"

Lugar would be very appreciative of a sculpt sound spell so that his movements remain silent.  Any other enchantments would be welcome too.

[OoC, I think we all have pretty defined rolls but maybe we can "organize" like Toot suggested earlier.  SG is our obvious front line tank/destroyer and we should keep him alive and well buffed.  Torin is our main healer followed by Toot and Portho.  Am I right in saying that Merri and Shanna are our battlefield controllers and blasters?  I know Torin, Toot, and Shanna are summoners. We should never be outnumbered :Smile I see Lugar as the main scout (also trapsmith and backstabber), but really anyone can do that, even Merri's air elemental can scout (can an air elemental travel under water?). Where does Portho want to be in a fight? He is the Jack-of-all-trades!  What do we have to counter FEAR? Inspire Courage, wisdom buffs, protection from evil, other cleric spells, can anyone summon a paladin?]

"Shananana?  You know about other planes.  Do you know what counsel mean by spells being different here?  Or Merrinanana?  You know anything about other Planes?  Don't wanna cast any spells here that might not work, right?  So need to know what to expect."

[OoC: Knowledge Nature: +13; Result 28!; Searching memory for anything regarding Fey Realms and their magics.]

[Back at the City...]
While items are being identified, Toot's going to ask for the Amulet to be identified again to see if it has any additional powers as well as the Dagger with the continual light cast upon its tip.

[While leaving to meet the Counsel...]
While Toot rides in his tiny saddle on Boo's back he shifts his eyes back and forth from Shanna to Merrinna and back.  Toot stops and clears his throat.  If no one responds he has Boo roar [not super loudly but loud enough] to get their attention.  When they finally stop to listen Toot says, "Me has something to show yous twos.  Yous may not like it but it is what it is and you should know sooner than later, before someone accidentally blurts it out and gets me squished, fireballed or turned inside out."  Toot stands up in the saddle and states, "Me am Toot!  And me am Jermlaine!" With his last statement, Toot removes his hat of disguise to reveal himself to actually be a tiny, mishappened, grey-skinned humanoid with very slim limbs, a grumpy, big nosed face and slightly rat-like traits.  Toot then take on a defensive fighting stance so if they try to harm him, he will be ready to retaliate.
