[IC] Chapter 1-2: Tunnels of Hate
#21
...and sees the cloaked figure. She holds up her free hand and challenges the newcomer. "Who goes there! I have three more magic missiles with your... with you in mind! Friend or foe?"
#22
Based on its posture and Maul's yell it's obvious that the creature has just attacked the priest a moment ago. The priest doesn't seem to be hurt, but Giant doesn't seem to be wounded either...

"Foe!" Maul yells, then: "In the name of Pelor, go back to whence you came!"

... and the creature turns to leave with great haste.
(EDIT: Merri still has time to attack if she so wishes.)
#23
Merri sees the creature running and decides to save her magic for when it's needed rather than waste it on a fleeing opponent. It was a good bet that it was some kind of undead that the cleric had turned. She didn't know much when it came to undead, but she figured Maul was more powerful than the typical cleric. If the creature was running and not destroyed, it may be powerful enough to heal itself. "How long do you figure that thing will keep running, Maul? Long enough that it may not be able to come looking for us again?"
#24
The priest shakes his head. "No more than a minute or two. It disappeared in the solid rock so it may emerge anywhere once e shook off Pelor's power. We better get moving, this way or another."
#25
Merri frowns harder. "All right, you are supposed to be the undead expert around here. What kind of undead does that? Is it some kind of ghost? Do we need to make any special preparations for when we see it or more of its kind?"

"I don't care what kind of ghost it was, if it comes back it's a dead one... or a deader one. Let's see what treasure that old ghost was talking about... Maybe the key is there." Lugar slowly marches toward the end of the tunnel where they encountered Sirrith, keeping an eye out for traps and other ghosts.
Ooc (take 10 on search, are there a set of doors at the end?)
#27
"Let's move on," Maul indicates and follows Lugar, urging Giant forward as well. Having a cursory glance at Giant he answers. "You look weary pal. These creatures may have been ghosts based on how your face distorted. I can only hope that they were mere spectres or other incorporeal evil spirits. Not sure my standing in Pelor's eyes is sufficient to help here but we have to give it a try. Not now, though. Move on to another place as we need relative calm as the spell takes some time to cast."

Lugar proceeds carefully and finds nothing out of place.

The end of the corridor looks like one wing of a double wooden gate, like that of a manor, quite aged. The lock and the knob look like pieces of cast iron that may have been mighty once but now corroded almost to nothingness. Based on the size the road leading to the gate must have been at least twice as wide in the past.
#28
Never the one to trust a strange door, Lugar does his usual inspection for traps. (Roll is in roll20, he doesn't want to wait to long for anymore spirits. If none are found he'll try opening the door)
#29
Merri rests her sword on her shoulder for a quick ready if anything jumps out at them.

(OOC - can't see any chat entry after my latest one... anyway here it goes)

Lugar finds a triggering mechanism that would fire when someone would open the gate and then enter-- but apparently someone has already sprung it. A charred depression on the wall near the door suggests it must have been an energy attack-- likely a bolt of fire or lightning. Whether it happened an hour or a century ago is hard to tell.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
