Missing Caravan
Jonath nods at Betimi and follows her to the door. It certainly seems like a prison door - sturdy metal construction, wedged closed, and with a slot that could be used for sliding in food - which also meant it may be trapped or alarmed. With Betimi's aid, he begins searching for such things before attempting to open it.

Search:[1d20+9] = 19+9 = 28

With Betimi's aid, Jonath thoroughly searches the door but doesn't find any traps.  [With his fantastic roll]  Jonath's keen eyes do notice that on the ground, there's a faint trail in the dust approximately a foot and a half wide, as if someone dragged something toward the door.  Whatever it was, it's gone now.

"if it's a cell of some sort, why would they keep them so close to the exit, with so few guards.  I would think it more likely a pen for  some beast of burden, or worse, a guard animal of some sort."

She pulls out a copper coin. "Maybe we should drop this through the small door and see if anything reacts? Then we can decide what to do based on that?"

"Yes, I suppose you're right...perhaps whatever creatures are used to pull the carts," he says with a nod back toward the tracks. "But there does seem to have been some sort of recent activity here," he continues, pointing towards the drag marks on the floor. "The door itself seems safe enough, perhaps I can peek in through the port to see what's inside." He crouches down low, leaning sideways as he opens the smaller door, seeing if he's able to see through to the other side.

Kobolds. So that's what they were called (I think Selina failed the Knowledge check earlier). And they were known for traps. Well that was a problem. Selina was encumbered by her armor and weapon (and a few assorted belongings) and would not be able to utilize any sort of dextrous skill that she did not otherwise have. Selina whispers back to Tomeal "That is what Jonath is here for in the first place. Among his many talents, he is able to locate such contrivances." She certainly would not be of much help in that regard, save an ambush that they survived.

[OoC: @Selina Parcellus in case you haven't noticed, you have just leveled up.]

Jonath opens the small door and peeks in with his darkvision but the door is constructed so when it's opened the shelf on the inside seals so it is pretty much impossible to see inside. [Something like pictured below]

However, it might be possible for Jonath to crawl onto the shelf and then close the door to have a look inside the room.  [Evil Grin]  Tongue

Betimi gets an idea she gets Jonath to hold the small door halfway open and then waits a moment listening for any sound on the far side.

If she hears nothing she then slips her left hand, the one with the odd crystalline slave-ring-bracelet, in and up for a look around [OoC GM Marvel see the PM I sent you.]

Mardak , being bored with all this stuff, waves his torch around to kill some moths.  'Moth-er fuckers'  The gruff voice in his mind jokes.

"What in the nine hells...Is going on!"  He mutters under his breath.  Only because he never knows when a pterodactyl skeeter, or a dragon will appear to munch on his ass.

[OoC: leave it to a player to do something that the rules have no rules for handling...   Confused ]

Betimi slides her hand inside the box in the hopes of getting a look around.  The moment she slides her hand into the box and up, her body suddenly goes completely limp...

[Bracelet: Failed save; Damage=5]
[Betimi Failed Save; Damage=5]

Jonath watches Betimi go limp, with her hand still inside the box in the door.  The bright light from Selina and Mardak doesn't quite reach Betimi and Jonath but they can still see Betimi go limp in the dim light cast by the torch/spell.

[Meanwhile, @Betimi see PM.]

'Ah hell!'  Mardak rushes over to the limp form of Betimi, then shoves the torch in the ground.  He attempts to pull her hand out of the woman-eating mailbox and lays her down softly onto his lap.  "Betimi!  Betimi!!"  He looks around concerned.  "What the hell hapened?"

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
