OoC thread
Quote:I love this world/realm.  I keep mentioning it in Forge's thought processes but he would be comfortable here.  He's also Neutral/Neutral.  New Crobuzon, while the words are strange, is one of the more interesting settings I've played in.  I mean, we talked to a devil at level 2-3!  The funny names add an air of mystery and unsettling feeling to everything, which fits.  As a player, I am soaking this world up.
Deep Thoughts for DM

What is interesting, is despite how technologically advanced this world is, Forge would most likely be considered the most advanced "Robot" on the planet.  Pretty much all Robots here are almost mindless and they are programmed to complete a set number of tasks.  Some of these tasks can be quite complicated such as taking a dog for a walk but none would be as advanced as a Warforged.  This puts Forge in an interesting position especially for unscrupulous people who would like nothing better then to profit from Forge's uniqueness.

Quote: Between the multiple games I am playing with the multi-realm/world hopping feeling, Keeper of the Seven Keys, Anova Chapter, and this game I think a cameo of other characters would be cool!  Even if the characters were seen through the DM's eyes and not role-played by the players.  Could you imagine Toot leading the resistance to fight technology in New Crobuzon, or Silent Giant with his not so trusty side-kick Lugar starting their own chapter in a town near Anova???  By the way, I think the dog is a druid. Just saying...of course my dog is dumb as a rock so Wink

Honestly I've thought about character's making cameos in other games.  I'm not sure how experience would be handled since the person would gain more than the other players in their home game unless the whole group was included.   And I'm not sure how Toot would feel about leading a resistance unless it was against bathing.   Tongue

On another site we use to have an Inn that characters from all games could come to to RP with one another.   It was fun and it gave character's whose games were slow or cancelled somewhere to RP their characters.

Hey, maybe the dog is actually Toot!   Cool

I've also been thinking of adding a few new house rules.  One possibility is allowing you to destroy your shield to absorb all damage from one source of attack (probably not an area of effect attack).  They perhaps can be repaired for maybe 10% the cost.  Magical shields might just temporarily lose a plus and can also be repaired based upon the number of pluses you've sacrificed during a battle.  So a +3 shield uses to stop 2 attacks would drop it to a +1 shield.  You can then pay 10% the cost of the difference between a +3 and +1 (probably taking into account the total number of ranks for it's other abilities too).  I'm still mulling it over and as always I'm always open to suggestions.

Sounds interesting. Would it require a feat to use this ability? What about using the Hp and hardness of items per the sunder rules? In this case the attacker gets the benefits of the improved sunder feat maybe, +4 attack. I think the choice to use your shield this way should be made before any attack roll.

I have a few questions about that:
- How do you calculate your AC? With the bonus from the shield or without that? If this is a magic shield then with the normal bonus or just with the decreased?
- If you must take this decision before the attack roll then what happens if the attack miss?
- What it the type of this action (free, swift, ...)?

I think we keep overthinking ourselves and it doesn't really matter. What I can see as a kind of consensus within the team:
We all think that
- M is willing to aid us if this helps him get rid of us for good.
- M does not wish anyone else to know
- No matter what we do, any M worth their salt would know our every step

So here goes nothing: why don't we create a rumour, one that everyone considers ridiculously unlikely... except M who knows exactly that the "rumour" is actually meant to be a message for him.
Technically, I would call it a reverse usage of gather information, or even bluff.
But we may as well send him a cryptic message making use of Simon's comment about these dumb selfish wyrmen.
The message should be cryptic enough for the M to be the only one to decipher, like,
"We are about to take actions that's in your best interest, and we need elevated transport for the purpose. Signed, the Six." (Selina Betimi Kee Eek Forge Nacesh ... Don't think he would count with those who were not in custody: Gilley, Piper, and Tomeal... or wait, was Tomeal there? then "Signed, the Seven".)

Sounds like a great idea all around. I think a critical addition to the first part is that M knows that we all (or at least, most) want to leave at the soonest possible moment, so our interests and his coincide.

Selina despises all things Evil but she is, thankfully, not a Paladin and can at the very least work with someone who is Evil if the ends justify the means in the most critical way possible. I think that is the case here.

I wouldn't both creating a rumour that we want to see him just send him a damn messenger with a note as Simon has offered.. why beat around the bush.. we don't need to go traipsing around trhe streets that way.. and he can respond just as easily..

I agree. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. Forge is willing to spring any traps and act as any messenger as well but I think we should stick together. Although, Nacesh has a really great idea for when the plot unfolds more maybe.

On another note, most of July and August I'll be absent. I think that would be a good time to have Forge make weapons for the group. Just throwing that out there.

Why send one of us???  use the flying imp messenger service we've been offered.  again with the over-complicating.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
