[[Reminder that all attacks are at -1 due to the cramped (for you) condition of the tunnels.]]

The bolt flies true and, just when Nexendia thinks it will glance off, it does manage to sink into the vermin's carapace, causing it to release a shrill squeal of pain but it does survive. Watching Nexendia move away, it slithers in after her. Happs (who had held his action) takes this as his cue to release an arrow at it. This time, his arrow flies overhead and embeds itself into the crumbling dirt and rock of the ceiling. The massive centipede continues to skitter along, approaching Vidar and clacking its hideous mandibles, dripping with poison. Vidar takes one look at the disgusting creature and slaps its head away with his shield.

Happs then takes a moment to look at the angle to the injured centipede, frowns at Vidar's bulk getting in the way, and decides to settle on one of the others. He draws, nocks and lets another arrow fly, but once more the arrow just misses, causing him to cluck his tongue to himself and take a step back.

[[Tushou, then Andra, then Vidar can now take their turns.]]

ooc - I don't see my character's token on roll20

Tushou moves next to Vidar and throws a javelin targeting centipede at the bottom. (2 or 3?)

Tushou's javelin attack [1d20+5]=16+5=21 -1 = 20
Tushou's javelin damage [1d6+4]=5+4=9

Andra Attack: [1d20+1]=20+1=21; Damage: [1d6]=3 Possible crit??
Andra Attack: [1d20+1]=18+1=19; Damage: [2d6]=4  It crits!!!

Vidar's blood boils and he lashes out at the hideous creature with a dagger strike.  The centipede chitters and recoils from the big skald, avoiding his strike.  Andra shudders in horror at the size of the insects and draws her shortbow, nocking an arrow to it and releasing.  The arrow pierces her chosen target directly between the eyes.  The centipede gives off a ghastly stench as it expires.

Tushou then steps up and hurls his javelin at the next one.  The javelin penetrates the insect's tough carapace and impales it into the earth.  The creature quickly expires and seems to twist and writhe, adding to the terrible odor in the room.

In the cramped quarters, Valdi doesn't bother with his bardiche, instead he  grips his light hammer and steps up beside his brother, bringing his hammer across in a broad sweep, smashing into the creature.

MW light hammer -1 due to cramped qtrs [1d20+5]=18+5=23; Damage [1d8+3]=5+3=8

Valdi walks up and calmly smashes the remaining centipede into a foul paste.  All that remains in the still silence is the appalling odor made worse by freshly mulched centipede.  Happs and Andra both hold their noses and point in the direction where the vermin came from.

The room is filled with nothing but silence punctuated by the occasional drip of some ugly looking fluid from the ceiling above. The light penetrates the darkness and reveals several more mounds of smelly compost pockmarked with the same small spheres as the others you've noticed. As you continue, into the cavern, you hear this odd, disconcerting sound drifting in from the tunnel in front of you. If it weren't hideously off-key and painful to listen to, you could almost say it sounded like...music.

[[Almost forgot to mention, 105 XP to each of you for the Centipede encounter. Well done.]]

Nexendia suddenly stops and turns to look at the brothers.  "Are you two trying to bring a horde of mites down upon us," she whispers.  "You need to dim that light and only use it sparingly because the mites can probably see in the dark.  Light will only serve to warn them of our presence"  Then turning to look at Vidar, "I know this is exciting for you but stop yelling!"

Nex pinches her nose between her eyes then adds, "We cleared this cave and then planned to go back to the first room to explore further.  Do you guys still want to do that or do you want to search for the source of the caterwauling?  In my opinion, music means mites.  Possibly lots of Mites.  Do we wish to possibly rile up the whole nest?"  She looks at who she's surrounded with [two vikings and a brawler] and realizes she would probably have better luck talking to a wall.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
