[IC] A Stolen Land
The kobolds look at Nexendia in an odd manner (Darnit, as a prose writer I hate that I'm no longer allowed to use 'queer' as a synonym for 'odd'!)

"That what we say, right?"

"Perhaps we should test the mites before we assume that we are too weak to get the totem from them. It would be more than just a useful tool."

"In a roundabout way.  But I wanted to hear you say it so there was no misunderstanding."

Nexendia listens to Valdi. [Since the kobolds agree that the totem is still here, Nex does not say the last statement about waiting.]  "Do you have any ideas how we might test the mites?  Luring one or two out would be a good start.  Too bad we don't have anything that might enrage the mites and make them reckless enough to be drawn into our ambush."  Nexendia side-eyes the kobolds.

"I can be a good target. I will not condone endangering our charges. A human approaching their tree with an axe would be a pretty strong provocation."

[OoC dammit why did I choose to be LG lol]

Nexendia grows slightly annoyed with Valdi (She's Neutral  Tongue ), "Unless you have placed yourself under some kind of oath, you have not been entrusted to the care of these Kobolds.  They have agreed to travel with us so we may speak to someone from their tribe that may help us.  Furthermore, THEY have been asked by their leaders to bring the totem back.  They are independent beings that have successfully traveled far from home without the help of a do-gooder human to babysit them.  In fact, they haven't even asked for our help with retrieving the totem.  They wanted us to avoid this tree as much as possible.  So my thought was that since we are here, we assist them in retrieving their own totem.  Not do it for them like they are invalids.  And when I alluded to having them lure some of the mites out to be tested, I wasn't suggesting that we should then just let them slaughter each other.  We know nothing of these mites.  The kobolds could be lying or at least a little bias.  There could be more to this feud.  We need to check out the situation.  Not just start killing everyone the Kobolds have a beef with."

"If they are wiling participants in such a plan, fully informed, then it is okay."

[OoC just reminding you, Vidar and Valdi do not speak Draconic, so they have to trust you and Eran to communicate with the kobolds. What lies you tell they will never know...]

Nexendia looks down at the Kobold and asks, "Would you like help with getting your totem back?  As a show of good faith we may be able to assist you."

Kobold gives Nexendia an...uncertain look?

"We not...turn it down? We not really want go in there-" then he gets a better look at Vidar's size and quickly adds "But we will if you ask nicely?"

Tushou translates to Vidar then adds - Ask them nicely, please. Wink

Vidar looks at his brother who nods at Tushou's translation.

Vidar shrugs and holds his empty hands out, down with his palms turned out, to show he is not threatening , his hands empty of weapons and (currently) not clawed.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
