[IC] A Stolen Land
Valdi eases himself awkwardly down out of the saddle, slings his bardiche across his back and draws one of his throwing axes.  He pauses a moment and hobbles the horse, preventing it from running away, but not leaving it unable to move at all.

Now having a free hand he stoops and picks up a rock from the ground. Clutching it in his left hand he casts Light on it.

"Shall we?"

He begins walking slowly and carefully towards the opening, beckoning hi brother to follow.

Vidar grumbles superstitiously, but quickly hobbles his mount and follows.

[OoC: Andra, do you have a cold iron weapon?  if you don't, Nex has a cold iron dagger you can borrow.]

"We should keep eyes peeled for any lookouts they may have.  Once we engage, if you see any of those creatures run away, target them immediately.  We don't need them running to get reinforcements; or to better arm themselves; or escaping to cause trouble later on.  If they are anything like kobolds -- no offence -- if they will retreat to the forest they'll scatter like mice and likely use guerrilla tactics to wittle down our strength and numbers."

Turning to look at the Kobolds she asks in Draconic, "I assume you do have weapons, correct?"

"If there's any other suggestions on how to deal with these creatures that I have missed, please speak up."

At this point, Nexendia begins casting spells upon each person...

Upon herself she whispers, "Selemat kendala!"  For a moment a shimmering suit of eldritch armor appears then slowly fades away.

[Armor Spell: Duration 2 hours; Effect: +4 ac; New AC is 18]

Nexendia then turns to each person in the party and whispers, "Nuntius!"

[Message Spell: Duration: 20 minutes; Target: 2 people per casting; Effect:  She can now message everyone in the party.]

Once all the spells have been cast and everyone has Cold Iron weapons, Nex asks, "Andra, can you take the lead and use your skills to keep a look out?"  Once Andra decides, yes or no, Nexendia will whisper to everyone through her message spell, "Ok, lets move cautiously."

When he sees Nexendia stop now to start casting the spells, he waits, appreciative of the need, but wondering why she did not start the casting while Andra was scouting.

[OoC: Was the 36 seconds to cast all the spells just too much for you?   Tongue  Also, Nex had not yet committed herself to the attack.  She wanted to see what Andra found.  If it was heavily trapped Nex may have suggested to come back later. No need to waste spells that she doesn't need yet. ]

[OoC just RPing the grumbling northman]

Andra declines the cold iron weapon, saying that she's good. She waits for the spells to be cast, then takes point as requested, keeping her hands empty of weapons.

You are the leader but what is your plan? We are going to help kobolds against fey to get their totem back? Or do you want to contact them first? - he asks Nex in common using her Message spell

I suggest you to bind the kobolds if you doesn't want a battle with fey immediatelly. Perhaps the fey are better guys than these kobolds. Remember the bounty board about kobolds. We don't know why the mites has taken their totem. I prefer to fight against bandits not againts mites in a old magical tree.

He asks kobolds in draconic - What does your totem like?

Nexendia cringes inwardly when Tushou reminds her that she's the defacto leader.  "You are correct.  We do not know conclusively if the Kobolds are attempting to betray us," Nex whispers to the party (but not the Kobolds) through her message spell.  "But thus far they seem reluctant for us to engage the mites and seem genuinely afraid of the creatures.  We have traveled awhile with the kobolds -- have any of you sensed if the kobolds have any ulterior motives?"

[OoC: Can we all have sense motive checks for the Kobolds?  I believe we've traveled with them enough to observe if they're acting suspiciously.  If we can...]

Sense Motive: [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11

Nex gazes down at the kobolds while one might be picking his nose and smiles, saying,  "They're precious..."

"But you are correct, we should take all due caution.  However, just walking up and knocking on their door seems to be inviting disaster."  She thinks for a moment and then adds, "How about all of us hide [take 20] outside then I create an illusion of one of us, obviously wounded and limping toward their door.  [If Elan is still here he can use his ghost sounds to make moaning sounds]  One of us, like Andra who can sneak close to the door can toss a rock at the door to get their attention.  When they come out we can then watch them to see how they react to the illusion.  If they are nonthreatening then we can take the next step toward first contact.  But if they react in a threatening manner then I will have the illusion limp away.  They might even chase after the illusion and if they do, we can ambush them.  Sound like a plan?"

[[Yeah, sure.  Go ahead.]]

"Bear in mind you are talking about fooling fey with an illusion. One that has no sound"

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
