Going through the threads again I notice you mentioned that you wouldn't let a character spend gold to learn a new class and I understand you. One has to learn from a teacher. I guess I was thinking of a book as a way to explain how a character would learn new abilities. In Forge's case he has a bit of amnesia, I guess, and the book would unlock knowledge he's already attained but forgotten. Does that make sense? In any case I just wanted to have him craft things faster Big Grin

Did not think of it like that.  Thanks!

Betimi is correct.  Sometimes personal sacrifices make perfect sense but I don't like to penalize players for roleplaying decisions.  For example, she chose to pay money to downgrade her armor to chitin because in combat with Unreth, she swore an oath to wear his skin.  It doesn't seem fair so I allowed her to her to keep the same ac bonus which was only a difference of +1 anyways. For you, it didnt seem fair to charge you to buy a book to enter a prestige class when normally anyone can enter on for free.

As for using a book for an explanation for him to remember forgotten knowledge you can achieve the same results by just by picking up whatever requirements that's needed for the prestige class and then say you suddenly remembered.

BTW, I have been slowly dropping hints here and there for character development.  These 'bread crumbs' could be based upon something you wrote in your background, something you mentioned in or out of character, or something I thought might be cool.  But it's up to your characters pick them up and investigate those clues and plot hooks.

Dont exactly have Selina's full background anymore since it was stored on Plothook.

So what you are saying is that you have a clean slate.  All I remember is some sort of serpentine heritage and that Selina is a priestess of Selune , who we nominated as party leader because everyone trusted her ability to guide them.

Yes, Selina does have a peculiar heritage.   Angel

It seems Nerdred/forge wants to exxplore the city. I am willing but was hoping we could get on with the adventure because right now we are not in a position to take advantage of things like even being able to take one rank in local history or speak languages, nevermind pursue prestige classes when not even 3rd level yet, metagaming a bit, but if GM marvel is encouraging prestige classes, we can probably assume we will be here long enough to actually do that, so it behooves us to get some xp. curious to know where other players stand so we an best proceed IC

Sorry about dropping out of contact completely. Holidays have been making me crazy this past couple of weeks and the wife just gave birth to a healthy baby boy. We’re ecstatic and exhausted. I’ll get back to posting when I can.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
