[IC] A Stolen Land
Nexendia's eyes shift back and forth wondering if anyone will call dips on her cold iron dagger.

[OoC: I see Tushou has a cold iron weapon and Valdi has one too.  So it seems only Vidar needs a cold iron weapon so maybe he should volunteer to hold onto Nex's cold iron dagger?

Just a suggestion... Perhaps Valdi should play his brother while Vidar's player is MiA?  The DM has a lot of NPC's with Haps, the priest, and the kobolds.]

[[That would be very helpful to me.]]

The kobolds give each other a look that doesn't really translate, then shrug and continue on, unsure of whether the big'uns with them are holding them prisoner or escorting them. The journey begins and you slowly (because the kobolds are small) make your journey out of the forests of the Narlmarches, into the softly-swaying brush of the Kamelands. The air is filled with the sounds and smells of nature. A druid would be fully in his or her element here.

[OoC:  Great!  Now is Vidar going to take Nexendia's cold iron dagger?  ]

[OoC2: Have we been traveling for 8 hours yet?  If we have we need to camp.  If not then Nex will tell everyone, let's go and they will continue on their way. ]

You make decent progress given your short new companions ((halfway across the hex) before the oncoming night urges you to begin turning your thoughts towards turning in. By now the expected attack against the trading post will be occurring soon.

Valdi and Vidar both set to unpacking the horses and getting camp set up, with the practiced ease f having travelled together for years. Each knows what to expect from the other. Both are skilled survivalists and it soon is obvious they know what they are about.

[Vidar: Survival (Aid Another) [1d20+5] = 15+5 = 20
Survival +8+Aid from Vidar [1d20+10] = 9+10 = 19
Vidar: Handle Animal [1d20+6] = 13+6 = 19]

Soon a nice warm fire is set.. everyone's bedrolls are laid out in a nice circle around the fire with the saddles set to be used as stools/pillows. The kobolds even have a space t 'nest' together near the fire as Valdi assumes they probably need heat since they are reptilian. Vidar gets all the horses picketed and fed while Valdi starts dinner cooking. Ham, again, but he is a decent cook and is preparing soup using the ham and things he has gathered throughout the day while moving at the slower pace (wild onions, sage, lemongrass etc.. whatever he could find.)

"Perhaps a cantrip for some seasoning?" he suggests.  "Happs, perhaps you and I should set snares tonight? Catch something besides boar for tomorrows meals?"

[OoC Valdi pointedly ignores the God's poking them to doubt their decisions. Since there is nothing they can or will do about such doubts at the moment lol]

The brothers make short work of setting up a steady campfire and Vidar quickly begins stripping the boar meat. If nothing else, after these past two encounters, the group will likely have enough jerky meat to last for several months. For variety, Valdi finds common herbs in the nearby tall grass and has a tasty-smelling stew brewing before long. At Valdi’s suggestion, Happs nods and begins to work on setting up some simple traps around the outside of the camp. They won’t stop a bear, probably not a boat, but should catch something useful to them.

The gods do not like being ignored. ( Tongue )

"Vidar," Nex says firmly. "I will not ask again.  Do you want it or not?"  If he doesn't answer her for the third time she puts the dagger away and never mentions it again.  When Nex is alone with Valdi she will ask, "Was Vidar dropped on his head as a child?"

Nex will then ask about the watch.  "I need 8 hours of uninterrupted rest.  I believe the rest of you only need 6 hours of rest to recover.  So make this as uncomplicated as possible, I suggest 2 watches of 6 hours each.  Toushu, Happs and the Priest for the first.  Then Vidar and Valdi for the second.  I will join Vidar and Valdi as soon as I get enough sleep.  How does this sound?"

[OoC: I don't think Priests have to worry about getting 8 hours of rest.  I believe they only need 6 hours like the warriors to avoid fatigue the next day.  If I'm wrong, let me know. ]

Valdi says a few words in Skald to his brother.
"Take the dagger stubborn oaf."

When Vidar hesitates Valdi nods and takes the dagger from Nexendia and soundly smacks his elder brother on the helmet with the pommel. "Take it."

Vidar grunts finally and tucks the dagger in his belt at his back where his cloak will conceal it.

Valdi chuckles "Nay, but I did hit him with this a time or two." He lifts his cloak to reveal thefamily heirloom cold iron hammer hanging at his belt.

"That arrangement will work for myself, I need to be awake at dawn for my prayers."

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
