[IC] The Dwarven Ruins
OOC - Ahm. Tricky but elegant method: take a screenshot from a video.

They will go through the portal.
Ooc - actually I took a frame from an animated gif Smile

The two cross the portal. As they reach the sixty feet they can hear rumbling behind as stones fly back from the void into the wall. There's no turning back.

Looking ahead there's a similar gate at the end of the stepping stone path that opens in a similar way as you approach. There's a faint vision of some purple-black stone building beyond, having patterns somewhat similar last to the Dwarven tunnels but a much deeper hue. Deep dwarven fortress? Long lost gnome city? There's no telling as when the two step through the gate there's a bright flash of crimson light and lightnings strike all around.

Luckily the adventurers survive with but a handful of hair charred in the process but they are both dazed when they finally feel solid ground beneath their feet.

Looking around, Torin and Portho are in a domed natural cave, around forty feet in diameter with tunnels running East and West. Signs of recent battle occupy the centre of the vault. Four tentacled bodies about twice the size of Portho have been slain here. Aside from the gnome's light source there's a faint flickering light filtering out of the west tunnel.
In utter silence Portho quickly unties himself and, unties the rope from Torin as well, coiling it back up.

He will cautiously advance to the bodies of the slain tentacled creatures and attempt to determine what manner of creature they once were.

They are darkmantles, and they are larger than how Portho imagined them based on the stories he overheard. They are said to be the height similar to a forest gnome with a full length of four feet when measured tip-to-toe but these are easily beyond five, maybe even six. Still, they wouldn't beat a dwarf in terms of weight.
What is the symbol that is missing from this side? Is it a portal here?
Did we keep the stone necklace somehow? Or it was sucked "permanently" into the stone?
No, there is no portal here and Torin finds it strange. This is not what he expected based on the information he learned from the Identify spell and not what he'd expected from an ancient dwarven artifact.
He does have the stone necklace in his hands, though. (forgot this info from prev. post, will edit soon)

Torin whispers to Portho:
- There are one or more intelligent humanoids from the surface. What do we do at now? - He points to west.
Portho whispers back.
"If you wish stealth, I can make us invisible so we can observe them. Unless you'd rather confront them head on and take our chances."
Yeap. Let's do It. We couldn't left something potentially dangerous in our back. - whispers back Torin.
"Sorry, do which? Become invisible and check them out with stealth?  Or confront them? Not sure which option you are saying yes to." whispers Portho.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
