RE: Missing Caravan - Mardak Trannyth - 01-24-2016

"I am surprised nuttin's happenin'.  I hope something does soon, or I'm hackin' the closest thing next to me."  He looks to Nacesh.  "Hey what's going on over there with the women?"

[OoC: I'm starting at the southern room because Jonath was originally going to check the southern corridor.]

Checking the south room you see three triple bunk beds.  Under the lower bunk of each bed there are three small chests.  Jonath doesn't find any traps on any of them and the lock on each of them are so poor they aren't much trouble for any rogue, worth his salt.  So he easily opens each and finds a total of 275gp's in Gems as well as a few other keepsakes such as a few tiny skulls, feet of small animals that seem to be made into crude charms, and other useless odds and ends.  Between the two northern beds you find a larger steel chest with a few strange features.  It has a hole on the one side of box that's about 2 inches by 1.5 inches.  Also, it seems to not have any locks but it won't open.  Jonath searches the chest and notices that there seems to be something fishy about the hole.  Perhaps a poison needle trap.  And when he peeked inside through the hole, with his darkvision, he thinks he can see the latch that opens the chest.  The last notable feature of the room are two small openings in the wall to the south and the east.  Someone of small size might be able to squeeze through but anyone Medium size wouldn't have a chance.

RE: Missing Caravan - Jonath - 01-25-2016

Though intrigued by the mechanism in the large steel box, Jonath simply makes a mental note to return to it later if possible and moves on - time was of the essence here, and it could take a fair amount of time to puzzle out how to safely open the chest. The opening to the south intrigued him as well, but their goal here was to locate the prisoners, and it didn't seem possible for them to have been taken that way, so it would again have to be something for future exploration if possible. Instead he squeezes through the opening to the east, surmising it will take him into the larger southern hallway for further scouting.

[OoC: Or just a Disable Device roll.  Tongue  ]

He spits then answers his own question.  "I be guessin' the women are fine."  Placing his hands on his waist he adds gruffly.  "Thinkin' the lil' shits are scared or regrouping somewhere else.  If'n that be the problem.  Then we need to trap the buggers somewheres nice and tight like a knot in wood."

Still, Mardak keeps watch upon the gate as the rest of his compatriates work to mend.

RE: Missing Caravan - Betimi - 01-27-2016

Swearing as she see's Jonath squeeze through the hole that none of the others can follow through, Betimi races around the corner past Mardak and stops beside Tomreal, hoping that the gnome does indeed appear in the south corridor.

"I guess we're on the move.", over her shoulder to Tomreal and Mardak she adds as she passes the crossbow back to Tomreal.
"I'll move closer to Jonath, keep me in the torchlight, I'll keep an eye on him, and hope he doesn't get spotted by foes.

She then tries to move to a point about 15 feet behind Jonath.

[OoC: Heh, well, I did forget how long it takes to use Disable Device - I was thinking it was multiple minutes. Even so, it looks like it would be in the 1d4 - 2d4 rounds range, which granted isn't very long, but that's assuming a success on the first attempt. So it could easily take several minutes, plus a risk of getting hit by the trap, to both disarm the trap and get the chest open, so he'd still choose to move on for now.]

RE: Missing Caravan - GM Marvel - 01-28-2016

[OoC: I will be updating the map soon.]

Jonath squeezes through the crack in the wall and ends up standing in another hallway with a tipped over rail cart sitting a little over 5' away in the elbow of corridor that turns 90 degrees to the east.  From his current position he can't see far past the turn.

Betimi curses and quickly runs out of the room to catch up with Jonath...

RE: Missing Caravan - GM Marvel - 01-28-2016

[OoC: Betimi I'm not sure in what direction you're running. You say you're running past Mardak and standing beside Tomeal but I haven't specifically said where they were. I assumed everyone was in the southern room. Remember you can only run 60' in a round so depending which way you're going you might not reach him before he runs off into the darkness around the corner. ]

RE: Missing Caravan - Mardak Trannyth - 01-28-2016

(Tomeal and Mardak are at the gate doing guard duty, Mardaks' spot check was a 19. Betimi passed Mardak and Tomeal on her way towards Jonath)
