[IC] The Dwarven Ruins
#81
Not willing to stop his bardic oration to delay or ready an action, but lacking anything that he can do to the web, Portho instead continues his rousing tale, and steps 5' straight back as the door opens and assumes a defensive crouch [Total Defense action +4 to AC]
#82
Silence. Only Portho's music can be heard. Torin's turn!
#83
OOC - 1. turn:
Torin takes a defensive stance also. (OOC: Total defense)
- Where are you, little spider?

If nothing happen:

OOC - 2. - X. turns:
- I burn up this web.
He puts away his morningstar, gets his flint & steel and tries to burn it up while he is holding his defensive stance.
#84
Turn 2 if nothing happens Portho will move back up beside Torin continuing his oration; He will continue Total Defense but now he at least threatens the squares adjacent to Torin while Torrin works with the flint and steel.
#85
The flames tear the sticky web apart and spread west and east to burn up more web.
revealing a hungry spider beyond. Just as Torin and Portho spot the vermin, keeping their defensive stances, the spider slings a large icky web towards the armored dwarf, covering it tip to toe (OOC - AC20 for touch attack; assume it's a hit)

Torin's turn (who's entangled now), to be followed by Portho)

I think Portho is in Torin rights. I put a magenta arrow to Portho's suspected position.

See the OOC thread.

OOC - Portho please clarify. Remember that total defense means no AOO.
OOC - Torin I think your post to OOC thread failed (or still in progress?)

[OoC Portho is indeed now in the square just to Torin's right (I moved myself on the R20 map). Total defense was his action on the round that Torin lit the web on fire He was not expecting to have the spider provoke AoO but didn't want the spider to be able to move freely past either.]

Now that the spider has been revealed, but has entangled the dwarf, Portho quickly weighs his options. If there is a strand of web still connecting the spider and Torin Portho will attack it, in an attempt to prevent the spider from limiting Torin's movement further. He continues to perform his Bardic Song as he does.

[If there is no strand of web to attack, then Portho will instead advance on, and attack the spider. (not charging, he is remaining somewhat cautious.)]

[rolling d20+7+1 Rapier attack (17)+7+1= 25]
[rolling d4+1+1 rapier damage (1)+1+1= 3]

Torin casts a Shield of Faith spell to Portho (Concentration check: 28) and step back 5 feet (as a move action).
#90
Torin strains to reach out to the gnome in spite of the insisting pull of the web and succeeds to touch him, providing him some divine deflection.
However, when he tries to leave the web it proves to be more insistent than the dwarf thought.

Portho moves ahead and tickles the spider lightly in the belly.
The spider retaliates but does so poorly so given the surrounding fire it decides to withdraw and disappears through its own web that came into Portho's field of vision as the large vermin left.
Unless disturbed, the fire will move from currently burning webs to the one Portho's just spotted in a round or two.

Your turn!

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
