Bones and Ashes
#71
Maybe "smart" is too generous. Benji replied to the halfling with a snort as he fiddled around with the bone wand. The unholy symbol he left alone; no reason to mess around with some evil god's toy. Ghoulies know how to talks, but they still try to bite Benji's butt same as any other rotter. The kobold was about to pass the wand around for closer inspection when the new voice made him freeze in place and shoot a glance towards the barrier. The others heard it too, judging by their reaction.

Who this "Zoduck" be then, hmm? Benji asked the quivering voice with suspicion as he squeezed his way closer to the barricade. Nothing but stink and corpses dancing down heres.

Eloric glanced over at the voice, but continued to study the corpse to garner any information he could about it.  He figured his companions had that situation in hand.  If they needed help, he imagined they would ask him. Oddly enough he could be very persuasive if needed.

Robsen, barely could see over the barricade and couldnt make a lot out from the cave beyond, except it looked like there was a narrow exit to the North West, maybe 3 feet across;  and of course it was apparent there were numerous scorch marks across from the narrow passage. He could make out a misshapen creature standing near the barricade. It was goblin size. Looked to be another Ghoul, but obviously an intelligent one, and this one had much more physical damage done to its body.

Standing over the body looking down Eloric could tell the corpse was completely dead, and it had filed its teeth down to be razor sharp. More so than a normal feral Ghoul. Beyond that, there was little to tell.

Benji tried to engage the creature who had the quavering voice. The Goblin Ghoul said with a fearful tone. Zoduck be a dancing corpse, as You say. But ZoducK no wish to serve Chief Ripnugget no mores. Thick it was stoopid to dig long dead girl up. she has no flesh goods to eats no more. Just Stoopid. No matters what Chief says. But dont break barricade. It noisy and Fire Monster burn us.

Cade has memories of the iconography on the altar, and the one who it was dedicated too was a dreadful creature. He who gnaws indeed.

Beyond the altar, some movement on the tunnel wall caught the halfling's attention. When he trained his eye on the area however, all he could see was a protruding tree root. Turning away, again he saw movement in his periphery. The druid slowed his movements down, crouching low and crawling on all fours slowly and deliberately towards the wall. He reached out and placed his palm flat on the dirt, closing his eyes to see what the land was trying to tell him. The faintest touch on his wrist made him open his eyes slowly to find a tiny leaf with legs and eyes looking at him curiously. Cade smiled slowly as he realised the land here recognised him and wanted his help, so it sent this spirit to aid him.

"Come on friend, hop in here." the halfling opened a section of his back and after a moments pause, the leaf ran up his arm and into the space made for it, snuggling in.

Turning back to the group and getting closer to the barricade, Cade says "did it say fire monster? Have we seen a fire monster down here?"

OOC: Just roleplaying my change of class feat we talked about ages ago. He's got a leshy familiar now, but he's just going to stay in his pack and grant me spells and stuff, not another body on the board Smile

Merika eyed the barricade wondering if he could get through it if he had to easily and how much noise it would make. Quiet was preferred if there wasn't a threat on the other end, but with the ghoul there he was thinking speed was preferred to that.

Cutter asks Zoduck where fire monster at now? Then in a whisper to Kade hey buddy lets check to see if there is another way in, with that said Cutter slips out the entrance to this cavern and slowly works his way around the cavern Zoduck is in. (using stealth)

Cade felt the land calling to him and though he was someplace new, he felt that The Green was calling to him. It was the force that powered servants of the land here. Nature itself had power in this realm.

Merica looked over the makeshift barricade, put in place by Goblin Ghouls...it wouldnt stop him if he was determined to move through it, but it would slow him down. It would be easy to remove the barricade given time. He was certain though it would make plenty of noise.

Cutter asked Zoduck where the fire monster was as he told the others he was going to scout for another exit

Zoduck responded to the whispered question by saying. He guards Shrine. Just beyond crak in wall.

Slowly the elf creeps forward moving as silently as possible in the dark keeping his light tube all most completely closed. he thinks he can see an opening just ahead.

Benji poked Cade with his elbow and grinned. Huh. Maybe there's smart ghoulies after all. This one has enough brain in the skull to not chomp us.

The kobold's ears pricked up at the mention of digging up a girl's remained and glanced back at the altar. Oh! Dead girl bones! This be what Priesto wanted us to find, yeah? he asked his companions.

"Yes it is! If those are in fact her bones and not somebody else's!", Robsen quietly replies.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
