Bones and Ashes
#51
Benji raised his torch up high and strode towards the smaller cave's entrance. The dim light revealed the ugly mug of Glorkus, and Benji wrinkled his snout in distaste. Eww! No wonder Cut-Man gots scared. You looks like someone tried to draw a face with their prick, HA! The kobold twirled the torch around like a baton and starting singing a little limerick:

There once was a rogue named McSweeny
Who spilled some fine gin on his weenie
Then just to be couth
He added vermouth
And slipped the king’s wife a martini!

Action 1: Stride
Action 2: Bon Mot: 1d20+10 27 (Glorkus -2 penalty to Will and Perception for 1 minute, or spend 1 action to retort and remove the effect)
Action 3: Courageous Anthem (+1 Attack, Damage and Will Saves vs Fear) 1 round

Still staying well behind the others, Eloric fired off a phase bolt at the creature, then mind blasted the nasty thing for good measure.

(Action 1 & 2 - Phase bolt at the ghoul)
(Action 3 - Psi burst, mental at the ghoul vs Reflex save)

Spell Attack Check: 1d20+10 = 27
Phase Bolt Damage: 4d4 = 9
Psi Burst Mental Damage: 2d4 = 4

Merika grumbled as Cutter fled past him, not at the fleeing he knew magic was the cause of that, it was the fact they had lost their shot at an easy strike. The monk charged forward entering low to the ground flowing into his wolf stance. As he swiped his claws at the creatures back.

Actions:
1: Move to Charge
2: Wolf Stance
3: Flurry of Blows: Flurry of Blows 1: 1d20+11=16 Flurry of Blows 2: 1d20+7=21 Damage: 1d8+4=6

Eloric moved along the wall of the larger cavern until he could see within the smaller one. He thought he could make out the Ghoul that made cutter run.  He then focused his mental energies and an energy bolt slightly out of phase stuttered forward blinking in and out until it struck the Ghoul Goblin.

Cade whispered to Aquila to stay put and then moved around the corner straining his eyes to see in the dimly lit cavern. Making out the shadowy goblin figure he muttered a primal phrase and slashed his hand in the air, fingers spread. Gusts of slashing air emanated from his gesture towards the creature, tearing open fissures in its undead skin.

Robsen saw the movement, tracking the undead, his hand a blur as arrows sped towards their target. The first pierced the neck of the creature spinning it causing the other two to miss.

Benji walked to the doorway and insulted the creature causing him to look askance at the torch bearing kobold.  Then he sang a quick part of a longer chantlike song.

Ooh, let's go
Benj walks warily down the street
With the brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet
strumming ready to go
Are you ready? Hey, are you ready for this?
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?
Out of the doorway, his good words rip
To the sound of the beat, yeah

Khaymen quickly slipped into the chamber and headed towards the wand bearing ghoul, he neared the enemy and could make out of his peripheral vision the barricaded room to his right and heard a goblin voice within whimpering with fear. a quick glance and he thought he saw another Goblin Ghoul cowering within the barricaded room through the pile of wood right before he slashed the one that had afeared Cutter with precision.

Darting into the chamber on all fours, Merika moved somewhat past the ghoul then spun and struck out with a hand formed like a wolfs mouth, his talons piercing the skin deeply of the creature.

next round

The ghoul glanced around with a feral look in its eyes and raised its arms up high calling out to an otherworldly power in the language of the dead that grated across your nerves like someone had walked on your grave. A black inkiness emanated from the undead priest and rippled out from the creature causing wounds to open on all but Aquila, Cutter and Chip, only because they werent exposed. At the same time partial damage was repaired to the ghoul.

The Ceiling height within the warren is 6' and treated as difficult terrain (2x movement and a -2 to attack) for those over 6 feet. It is total darkness within the warrens; except in the tunnel you are advancing down as the sunlight outside shows down the tunnel mouth. Cutter has a make-shift 'flashlight' that provides for dim light. All enemies within 20' (40' for Lowlight) of Cutter/Benji are considered 'concealed', needing a flat check of DC 5 to be able to attack them unless you have Darkvision.

Robsen continues to focus his squinted stare at the shadowy undead goblin, as he quickly draws and fires three more arrows in its direction. But the goblins unnerving chant throws of his aim and his shots go wide.

Ouchies! Benji stopped singing and the power of the bardic melody faded away. The kobold charged into the cave, his free hand twisting and elongating into wickedly sharp claws. Bright torchlight finally penetrated into the room, providing some much needed illumination. Benji lunged at Glorkus and swiped faster than the ghoul could react, tearing chunks of bloody, rotten meat off the walking corpse before the transformed arm twisted back to normal.

Action 1: Stride

Still a little afraid about facing that ghoulish goblin again, Cutter slowly works his way down the wall actually looking for things out of place when he reaches the corner of the room he feels a slight breeze against his face. Turning and examining the wall closely, cutter can see the out line of a door, when he gently pushes against it it slides to the side revealing a narrow hall way leading away from this room as far as he can see.

The Ghouls curse hit Eloric and the others nearly taking the breath out of him. Laughter cackled in Elorics ears, piercing, mocking laughter.  Familiar Laughter.  He flinched, now was not the time for her to interfere.

'The great hero, failing again to see his true power. energies swirling in your like an unattended cookpot. Fucking worthless as always.'

"Not NOW! You're NOT HER!" He growled out loud and reached out toward the Ghoul again.  This time his energies flashed from his hands and took a different form, a more familiar form. Closer to the magic he had known in the lands of dread, but now they took on a far more potent shape.

(Action 1 & 2 - Casts Vitality Lash resisted by Fortitude)
(Action 3 - Casts Shield, gains +1 AC and Shield Block 5 Reaction.)

Vitality Lash Damage: 3d6 = 12

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
