Droskar's Crucible
Dunndero once seeing the ash cloud dissipate, rushes after his friends desperately looking for a way to help, and hearing Larz command to remove the chain from Toryn 's throat, starts to try and remove said chain without causing further harm to Toryn.

When Dundero starts to remove the chain from Toryn's neck, Larz looks at him and simply says We have to destroy the chain it creates Forge masters. Then to make sure he gets his point across he screams. ATTACK THE CHAIN IT MUST BE DESTROYED!!!!!

Hearing Larz scream for him to just attack the chain and destroy before it raises the forge master or Toryn as the new forecmaster, so Dunndero raises his axe and attempts to attack the chain with the Glintaxe. Concern for his friend combined with a sence of panic and adrenaline fueled the swings of Dunndero axe, the Glintaxe which he brought down on the links with all the force he could muster with his half-orcian frame. Two solid clangs of his axe head smashing into the dark chain links could be heard echoing through the cave.

Actions:
1. Move Action: Move into suitable position to attack the chain.
2. Glintaxe Attack Action: Glintaxe (Battleaxe +1) Attack = [1d20+11]=16+11=27 (Hit, possible crit), Glintaxe (Battleaxe +1) Damage =[1d8+5]=3+5=8 -5 (Hardness) = 3 Damage / 6 Crit Damage.

Toryn awoke to the smell of burnt facial hair and the faces of two worried comrades hovering over him. The last thing he could remember was his whole body burning as the undead dwarf's chains crushed his throat. Death had come knocking for Toryn twice this adventure now, and twice the plucky gnome had refused the reaper's call. Perhaps Rivi Rhombodazzle, the gnomish goddess of luck herself, had lent a helping hand.

Every part of Toryn's body ached something fierce, but he was alive, thanks to the timely ministrations of his companions no doubt. H-hello friends! Did...we win? he asked hoarsely, attempting to get back on his feet before realizing the chain was still wrapped around his neck.

As soon as Toryn heard Larz's urgent warning, he wasted no time asking questions and wiggled out of his restraints as fast as possible, rolling away as the others started smashing the thing. As soon as he recovered, he grabbed his weapon and started hacking away as well, though a blade made for a poor sundering tool.

Seeing that the others are up and active. Breezy again plasters some of his magic mud on Lucian trying to get the stabilized wizard at least up on his feet. The small leshy also applies some mud to himself.

Lucian felt his strength rush back to him after Breezy fixed him up. "Thank you my little friend."
He had heard the calls to destroy the cursed chain and assumed time was of the essence.  He stumbled forward until he could see the cursed thing and unleashed his magic upon it.

(Action 1 & 2 - Force Barrage at the Chain. Auto-Hit)

Force Barrage Damage: 1d4+1 = 3, 1d4+1 = 4, 1d4+1 = 2 = 9 Total Force Damage

Oriana, panting heavily with steam rising off her from her attempts to shield herself from the forge breath, steps lightly over to Toryn's side.

She grips the chain and pours freezing cold water on it, trying to change it's temperature rapidly enough for it to weaken, but it's not enough, she needs more time to continue cooling it to the point of damage.

Actions:
1st: Stride
2nd & 3rd: Elemental Blast. 1d8+4 -5 hardness = 0 damage

Kallista groand ed she sat up. Her every nerve was pulsing with pain. With a glance up at Oriana and then over to Toryn she dismissed the soulforged armor she had summoned and felt the heat lessen. she crawled to Toryn, over the body of the undead dwarf, and put her hands on his body, and let the power of the swordmaiden flow through her to the gnome. his eyes flickered and popped open and he thought of potatoes... Then she grabbed the chain and pulled it from his neck, though the metal was burning hot and she had to shake it loose cautiously

with the cloud of embers and ash gone Larz comes running in and stops before Toryn, seeing his eyes flickering over and the chain laying on the ground next to his body; he quickly goes to work applying some cool mint liniment to the burnt body. Then pausing to look over the forge, the dwarves body and the chain he realizes this is an Undead Forge-Spurned. A creation of Droskar, to perform endless toil forever. And the only way to end its existence is to break the soul-chain that is its weapon. He says this to the others. That unless the chain is broken the creature will come back, and carrying the soul-chain from the ruins, though it is quite magical, being a striking and flaming spiked chain, its cursed to turn whoever bears it into a Forge-Spurned themselves. Though perhaps the runes could be copied and re-etched into a different weapon given time.

The little Leshy moved over to Lucian and spit into mud and applied it to the wizards burnt body. Lucian was in pain and it gradually subsided with the mud applied to his skin. Then Breezy applied his mud to his leafy body until he too was covered with mud.

Toyn got to his feat happy to be alive and went to work trying to break the chain with his blade. The chain slid away at each strike though and he did nothing to it.

Oriana moved to beside the chain and sent freezing water pouring over the chain, dousing the flames for the moment ...though it didnt damage the enchanted chain.

Dunndero runs in the room and hearing Larz' instruction attacks the chain with a fervor. after two strikes the links of the chain sever and its hold to undeath is no more.

Lucian painfully moves into the cave again and sends a barrage of force energy missiles into the chain smashing it further, not realizing Dunndero destroyed its connection already. But at least he knew it was destroyed.

End of Combat. Everyone gains a hero point. everyone has enough experience to level up to 3.

Her nerves on end from the undead creatures final assault, not to mention her clothing and hair nearly burned away, the Paladin returned to the forge and collected up her scalded Katana which she returned to it's scabbard before making her way from the room. She knew she had a change of clothes in her pack, but she needed to clean the burns as well as possible before changing. I suggest we return to camp. While I wish to continue on and save any other prisoners, in this condition we won't be able to save ourselves, let alone anyone else.

Lucian waved a weary hand toward Kallista. He had already taken a head count and was simply glad they were all still alive. "I'm right there with you on that idea. After that blast I don't think we're in any shape to continue."

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
