Chapter 1: Hollows Last Hope
Oriana returened from her surveillance and announced she saw no treks around the camp. Breaking camp, the group headed into the forest. Dunndero and Breezy taking point on their trek as they moved into the darkness of the woods, perennially in shadow. It was easy to see why it was called the Darkwood. Though Breezy was quick to point out that it was because easily 50% of the trees in the forest were of the black barked Darkwood trees and thats where the name came from and not because the forest itself was dark. At first the group was very anxious entering the wood and did not have the presence of mind to enjoy the beauty it presented. but it wasnt long after entering they began to relax when nothing jumped out at them and they started to notice the birdsong, the flowers, even the strange fungus's that grew here and there. It was a wild and untamed portrait of earlier days and touched everyones soul in one way or another.

It was slow going moving through the forest with no trails to guide them, and having to go around thick underbrush and wind their way through the trees, Breezy stopped occasionally to touch a tree here or there as if communing.  They broke for lunch sitting in the forest and eating a portion of their first day of rations they had. Yesterday they had enjoyed food from the inn and then food the lumberjacks camp had prepared, today however they had no such provider.

The air was always alive with the buzz of insects and the occasional noise of a wild animal on the move in the distance, though none could be seen. it was a brisk day, under the canopy of the forest, with little light reaching the ground to provide warmth. nothing jumped them as they finished their lunch and moved out again. Their bodies beginning to get loosened up as they continued their trek. By late afternoon they were ready for another rest as they came upon the banks of the river. It flowed from the east to the west from The Droskmere to the Foam splitting the forest in twain. At this location it was about a hundred yards wide and no more than 3 feet deep. Marks on the banks showed it was much deeper when the spring thaw occurred, but for now, the area known as the Shallows was easily fordable.  As Dark was setting quickly in the forest in late Neth the party began to set up a campsite for the night.

((as the norm once 5 have posted about their arrival and whatever else they wish to add, Ill advance the game))

As they traveled through the forest, Dunndero would watch for dried dead wood that was easily collected, and stop now and then and collect said wood in prep for the nights camp fire. When Leshy signals that they should make camp, Dunndero will set about starting a camp fire.

Breezy looked around as they traveled. Happy to speak to the local plants asking for the easiest path. The druid enjoys the trip casually looking for wolf tracks and Ironbloom mushrooms as well. It was honestly just happy to enjoy the trip through the forest. Not as thrilled or really looking forward to the trip to Hags hollow again. Still confirming the Hag is gone does appeal to Breezy and at the least they are not doing so alone so there is that. The Leshy does do his best to gather Darkwood seeds as it can for his own collect to help replant trees. Replanting Darkwood trees and trying to help regrow the forest was a personal project for the small leshy.

Harley trudged along and while it wasn't nearly as harsh like the day before, but she wasn't a hardy warrior, she was bard and her jungle was the urban landscape. So with exception of speaking to Toryn from time to time, she ready didn't say alot and just keep her eyes peeled for any signs of danger.

Larz helps gather wood, rolls out his bed roll and goes to sleep, when awaken for his watch he gets up and does his part. But he can't keep his mind from returning to days gone by when his Uncle would visit. After his watch the young cleric goes to bed, even in his sleep he can't avoid his Uncles presents. After a troubled nights sleep Larz is up early and pack, sitting on a rock facing the trail ready to go.

As the group nears the end of their day's trek, Oriana splits off on her own to see if she can rustle up some grub for them that isn't dried fruit or jerky, something fresh to fill their bellies.

Oriana returns empty handed from her foray to find food to augment the groups rations. ((ooc please mark off 1 day of rations from your sheet))  As the sun sets what little light from the day vanishes making the dark deeper within the confines of the forest. The temperature also falls into the low 40's causing you to pull your cloak tighter around you. Each watch gets you closer to dawn and the crossing of the river and though all around you noises fill the night, nothing comes toward your camp. Another uneventful night and the soreness in the body abates as you arise and break camp preparing to cross the river. Today is the last day of Neth. Tomorrow will bring winter as Kuthona settles into the lands. The Month named after the Diety of Pain and suffering also called The Midnight Lord by his followers. These thoughts slip through your mind as you break camp.

((ooc: I will post after 3 people have remarked about watch and breaking camp or crossing the river.))

Having spent her watch wrapped up in her cloak and winter blanket, Harley wasn't happy when she had to pack the aforementioned blanket away. I'm going to freeze my butt off, she grumbled, even as she bit into a stale bread roll from her store of rations, I know I should have went to the furrier's and looked into a winter coat.

Her bitching and moaning subsiding she finished her meal, packed the rest of her stuff and swung her maul over her shoulder, let's get moving and warm up limbs, maybe we will actually get to hit something today.

Dunndero awakens in the morning to repeat his daily stretches and exercises before eating and getting his gear ready for another day's march.

Lucian wakes up and has a bit of his rations with some coffee he brews over the fire.  He uses a simple old pot with an old (yet unworn, lol) sock to filter the crushed beans.  The sock is the secret ingredient obviously as it makes a very smooth pot of coffee.  He brews enough for at least two other cups if anyone else is interested.  First come first serve of course.

Afterwards, He studies his spellbook and keeps an eye on things by the campfire till the sun begins to filter it's morning light through the trees.  As soon as everyone is up, Lucian packs up his things and makes ready to continue their trek through this breathtaking forest.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
