Oriana returened from her surveillance and announced she saw no treks around the camp. Breaking camp, the group headed into the forest. Dunndero and Breezy taking point on their trek as they moved into the darkness of the woods, perennially in shadow. It was easy to see why it was called the Darkwood. Though Breezy was quick to point out that it was because easily 50% of the trees in the forest were of the black barked Darkwood trees and thats where the name came from and not because the forest itself was dark. At first the group was very anxious entering the wood and did not have the presence of mind to enjoy the beauty it presented. but it wasnt long after entering they began to relax when nothing jumped out at them and they started to notice the birdsong, the flowers, even the strange fungus's that grew here and there. It was a wild and untamed portrait of earlier days and touched everyones soul in one way or another.
It was slow going moving through the forest with no trails to guide them, and having to go around thick underbrush and wind their way through the trees, Breezy stopped occasionally to touch a tree here or there as if communing. They broke for lunch sitting in the forest and eating a portion of their first day of rations they had. Yesterday they had enjoyed food from the inn and then food the lumberjacks camp had prepared, today however they had no such provider.
The air was always alive with the buzz of insects and the occasional noise of a wild animal on the move in the distance, though none could be seen. it was a brisk day, under the canopy of the forest, with little light reaching the ground to provide warmth. nothing jumped them as they finished their lunch and moved out again. Their bodies beginning to get loosened up as they continued their trek. By late afternoon they were ready for another rest as they came upon the banks of the river. It flowed from the east to the west from The Droskmere to the Foam splitting the forest in twain. At this location it was about a hundred yards wide and no more than 3 feet deep. Marks on the banks showed it was much deeper when the spring thaw occurred, but for now, the area known as the Shallows was easily fordable. As Dark was setting quickly in the forest in late Neth the party began to set up a campsite for the night.
((as the norm once 5 have posted about their arrival and whatever else they wish to add, Ill advance the game))
