The Stirrings of War - (Chapter 2)

The team was told to stay where the were for the time being while the last mission and other intelligence was being evaluated. Pretty much everyone is left to their own devices as the team awaits orders.  The only notable changes that happened in the two weeks everyone as at the ready, was that Cord and Tiburon were assigned to the unit as permanent additions.  Tiburon was obviously fully cleared for duty, though his missing memories were never recovered.  Still as far as the Coalition was concerned, the most important part of his memories were intact, his training and loyalty to the Coalition.

(DM - Everyone pretty much explain what you do with your free time while at the base, feel free to Role play, chat with each other or whatever. )

Marcus relaxed a bit but kept up his training regiment. It helped him process the images he had seen when they had encountered the entity as well as the revelation that some of them were the very thing they had been trained from damn near birth to fight. Still- it wasn't a hard concept for him to wrap his mind around the fact that not all supernatural things were evil. It was just a matter of understanding what you were dealing with. Some were evil and fucked up, some weren't. A lot of likely depended on knowing exactly what type you were dealing with.

Regardless, Marcus kept his head down and enjoyed the basics while waiting for their next mission.

Nolan informed the unity that they had freed the town of Appleseed from a Black Fairy, a Witchling and something called a Neuron Beast. The monsters had assaulted and dominated the town on the alleged approval of Tolkien. Though it was more likely a Federation of Magic ploy. THIS was the official report.  Nolan made the entire unit read over the report twice to make sure they were all on the same page.

Descriptions of the battle were detailed and surprising accurate.  Save that Nolan knowing magic and Viego's transformation into a dragon are, for obvious reasons, left out completely.  And where they had battled the mysterious entity, this was replaced by the Neuron Beasts. Nolan also made sure everyone knew what a Neuron Beast looked like.  It was sufficiently hideous to where details could be forgotten but the overall description wouldn't vary much.  The fight ended with Marcus caving it's skull in, which freed the towns people from the parasitic control of the Neuron Beasts experiment.  Residual effects on the towns people remain to be seen, but disorientation and hallucinatory states were observed as the towns people recovered.

After the report was delivered and he was debriefed over the mission, he spent his time training with the unit and trying to spend some down time with them. After all, work aside, they still had a lot to process.

Viego spent his time training as well. He wanted to try his shapeshifting more, and enjoy his dragon form, but that was problematic at best. So instead he spent his time bothering Nolan trying to learn some magic on the side. He also worked on flying his SAMAS which was as close to flight as he could get.  He also practiced with the chain in secret as much as he could, picking up a melee weapon was something he was for sure not used to, still he figured he might try it. Because of it he asked to try several different types of exotic weapons to see if he could find something useful. In particular the Plasma Chainsaw he had seen on the Juicer games when not on base, really interested him, although that seemed to make a lot of people nervous.

Viego seemed to have changed after his first mission he was way more focused. Due to his desire to not reveal what he knew he decided to actually put in a solid effort as if he was busy training he didn't have to dwell on things.

Aaron's down-time schedule consisted of physical training and target practice in the morning, followed by a stint in the vehicle bay performing repairs and maintenance and shooting the shit with the other workers. Occasionally, Aaron would be pulled away to another department to help deal with some other complex mechanical or electrical issue that popped up. Turns out being a "machine whisperer" made you real popular with the tech crew and repair guys. Aaron didn't mind helping out, and they all knew better than to bug him about minor shit.

In the evening, if he wasn't out drinking, Aaron was back in his room, tinkering with his guns or some other pet project. The events of Appleseed were acknowledged and neatly filed away in his mind; unlike his brother, Aaron preferred not to ruminate on things. Mission completed, onto the next.

Guns and Beer, the Master Sergeant, after turning in his own report from the mission spent the majority of his time, either at the gun range, blasting large holes in little targets, or at the bar, embarrassing the other non-comms in the amount of booze he could consume, leaving most of his fellow soldier's unconscious in pools of their own vomit.

Tiburon runs the training courses over and over for hours on end. He wanted to be ready for anything that may come his way. He was vexed that he couldn't remember anything from his last mission, and he wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. Then he noticed his power levels would just refill he didn't need to recharge. What the hell is this? This is new. He thought to himself. He kept pushing himself to see if his power levels would run dry, but they never did. DA FUCK? he thought screaming loud in his head. My ammo refills as well? Tiburon made sure to keep this new information to himself. He for dam sure didn't want to become a science project. So, Tiburon just walked off the course and acted like he was tired. He made his way to the bar and had a few drinks as he pondered his newfound powers. What else was changed about him? He didn't know and that worried him some. If they could alter his memory and make so, he doesn't run out of energy or ammo. What else could they have done to him? And the bigger question was. Who is they??

Cord, still frustrated at being so easily overwhelmed and trussed up, spent most of his time trying to replace his lost gear and equipment.  What time wasn't devoted to this, he spent in the water, finding that he was almost more comfortable there than anywhere else.  He made sure to pay special attention to not stay under too long at any one time, however, despite realizing quickly that he could have stayed there forever.

After two weeks of training and downtime, all of you hear the ping on your communicators.

Lieutenant Randal's voice came over everyone's coms, "Gentlemen, we have a mission.  Gear up and post up at the ATV by 1100."

Viego who was in the middle of his morning work out stopped and sighed. He immediately went to grab his gear, and another meal if he could, because that time meant he would miss lunch.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
