The First Mission - (Chapter 1)
Unable to keep from smirking, having drained his shot of whiskey and reached for his beer, he gestured to each of his little brothers in turn, Veigo gets up for food, Aaron for anything with an engine or any other mechanical parts, and Marcus because he's a boy scout. He took a swig from his bottle, but I am sure they can elaborate further Nolan.

As for asking you a question, and if you don't feel like answering I'll understand, He took another swig then went on, Why do you think the younger Prosek placed a spook in charge of a group of combat soldiers, experimental or not?
"That is a question I would dearly like answered as well. But alas, not one I have an answer to yet. I can elaborate on my thoughts> I was chosen because  my specialty is in finding magic, then either eliminating it, or finding a way that the Coalition can turn it to it's advantage. It is for that reason that I have dealt with psi-stalkers so readily. They're like have assisted me in more than one assignment, they are invaluable."

"I am willing to bet it is because your boys are to be used as an anti-magic task force. A way to counter magic once it is identified."

"Why me specifically?"  Nolan shrugs. "Probably because unlike most other operatives with my particular knowledge, I can also scrap. Maybe not at your caliber, but as one of my combat instructors put it "Ph.D's who can win a bar fight.""
Viego  was half way through his drink and he nodded at Sarge. "Sounds a bit harsh when you say it that way, but your not wrong. I love food, man I would kill for some good fish, flying and well a good tussle is always fun. Either way.  But you didn't answer his question Sarge what gets you out of bed, besides the desire to yell at us?"  When Nolan said he could fight Viego's eyes light up and he grins, "Well if you like a good fight there is another bar I know... we can go there next."
Cheers then. Aaron raised his drink in cheer and downed it in one go, including the frilly flower garnishing the glass. He dislodged some petals from his teeth with a toothpick he pondered Nolan's question. Usually it's the need to piss that gets me out of bed in the morning. But yes, technology fascinates me. It's not just machinery though; anything interesting will catch my attention.

Aaron shook his head at Viego's suggestion and snorted. "Can" doesn't mean "should", boyo. You wanna be the one to explain to HQ why we're requesting a body disposal unit to some dive bar, right after we get promoted? Because I don't. And you know that every time someone tried to pull us into a brawl it was like getting attacked by an anemic child with a feather duster.

It kind of scares the patrons when someone decks you with two whiskey bottles, a barstool, and a rusty fire poker and you don't even spill your drink, though their reactions are pretty entertaining I'll admit.
"Let's not end up in the brig on your first real night of freedom gentlemen. that is not how you want to spend your R&r."
Laughing Khayman said, And you right along with them Nolan, this is lead from the front sort of command after all, offering the other man a grin, he looked for the waitress and flagged her down for another round.
"Actually LT, I just want to help keep my home and my people safe from monsters and magic. I figure if I can do that, that'll keep me getting out of bed."

Marcus smirks after Sarge says what he says about all of them ending up in the brig, "Technically Sarge, he's off-duty.  Like myself.  So if these two get into a brawl," He points at Viego and Aaron, "We can watch from over here and laugh. Go home, take a nice nap in our own beds and bail these little shits out in the morning."

With a chuckle he drinks the whole whiskey and cola.  He holds out the empty glass as if to considering it, "That was pretty good. How many of these are you supposed to be able to drink before getting that buzz that is supposed to go with it?"
"Oh roughly fifteen minutes ago. For you guys, that will be.. significantly more."

"So that's it, food, toys and duty... we need to get you gentlemen a hobby." He  gives a wave to some passing girls, when they look he gestures at Marcus, and addresses one of them at random. "This young man was just telling me how good you look in that outfit, but he was too shy to say it."

Then he whispers at Marcus.. "Just getting you a hobby."
Marcus' eyes go a bit wide and he gulps slightly. "Uhh.. hi." he tries to offer the girl a smile.
---Everyone---

Several girls  who were walking with the one Nolan called over, stopped and appraised the group.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
