A Dohwar, a Giff, and a Satyr walk into a bar [IC Thread]

[OOC: Sure.  DC 20 to try to recall if you have seen at least these patterns and general movements used before.]

I was looking to see if my Comprehend Languages would help.. nope

Quote:For the duration, you understand the literal meaning of any spoken language that you hear. You also understand any written language that you see, but you must be touching the surface on which the words are written. It takes about 1 minute to read one page of text.

Too bad 5e really makes it hard to learn new skills

Learning new languages can be done with downtime, although the rules for downtime need to be adjusted for spelljammer as the limit there is what resources you have access too on the ship and not available time to study.

I'll take a look at that.  The only other way to gain new skills/proficiencies is through leveling and/or feats.

Try as he might, Rupert cannot remember what this sequence of flags would mean.

[OOC: We'll give it a bit to see if Bazz wants to do anything in response to the ship appearing.]

So first port oif call we are buying some Semaphore manuals, and morse code manuals for learning to signal by lantern, probably easier to learn by text than a spoken language is.

Threadvine laughs as he drops the telescope from his eye and calls out, "They say they have us outgunned and outmanned.  They demand we open a portal, give them all gold in the hold, or be ransacked.  Since we don't have a way to open another portal, I'm thinking that our response should be that they can fuck right off!  Anybody object?"

"AYE AYE SIR! I AGREE! LETS GIVE THEM WHAT FOR!", responds Rupert as he preps his seigege weapon for a shot.

Melville communicates telepathically to Slick, "Ask the captain if he wants me to maintain my station on the helm, or swap with Click, who has more Piloting prowess for combat."

[OoC thanks to being a rastipede, she should have a higher SR than I.]

Insight Check: [1d20+1]=16+1=17; In case Bazz knows anything.

Bazz will cock an eyebrow and whispers to the Captain, "Maybe we should give up.  I mean, not for real.  We could try a deception where we tell them we'll surrender so we can get closer to catch them by surprise.  While we get into position, the crew can quietly prepare to strike."

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
