[IC] New Crobuzon & the World Beyond
[[Selina’s player is just picking himself off the floor now.]]

[OoC: I was hoping you guys would get a chuckle out of your situation.  Sometimes you need to 'break' the tension.  Smile ]

Tomeal: Reflex save: [1d20+5] = 6+5 = 11, 2nd Reflex if 1st failed: [1d20+5] = 18+5 = 23; Just made it

Simon: Reflex save: [1d20+12] = 8+12 = 20, 2nd Reflex if 1st failed: [1d20+12] = 10+12 = 22; Success. He'd need a 1 to fail.

Dog: Reflex save: [1d20+5] = 10+5 = 15, 2nd Reflex if 1st failed: [1d20+5] = 9+5 = 14; Safe

Tomeal nearly stumbles into the wave but just manages to jump up and split his legs to land on either side of sewage.  Simon easily planks his body across the tunnel.  And though Dog doesn't understand to stretch himself across the tunnel but his instincts do tell him to jump straight up into Selina's waiting arms.  [Even if I applied a -5 to Selina's check, she would still make it.]

With all of you safely avoiding the stream of poo trickling down the slight decline of the tunnel and into the waiting pond, you think that maybe you're safe until whatever it is outside releases a cacophonic gale of odiferous gas down the tunnel!  The sound echos, rattling your ear drums and the smell is... indescribable.   There's a groan from outside and you prepare for a second wave but suddenly light spills into the tunnel, as the creature seems to stand up.  Just as you're about to quickly get the hell out the tunnel, a deluge of water is thrown down the hole, splashing everyone with cold water.   You're all in shock for a second from being doused with the freezing water, when suddenly a large tree branch with lots leaves gets shoved into the hole and apparently is used to scrape the surfaces of the tunnel clean, with you with it.  Just when you think you can take no more, one more splash of cold water gets tossed down the tunnel, dousing you all for a second time.

As you all are drenched, roughed up and probably covered with the remanence of lord knows what, you see four tree trunks seem to hop away.  The rest of the creature(s) towers above your sightline in the hole.

Ningalu is going to fly up just below the 'seat' to peek out to see what they face.

Hide [1d20+18] = 4+18 = 22; Move Silent [1d20+20] = 18+20 = 38
Spot [1d20+7] = 11+7 = 18; Listen [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22

When you peek out you're met with an awe inspiring sight.  The inside of the cave looks like a lush alien valley full of vibrant emerald and azure colored grasses and trees with leaves of jade, pinks, lavender and gold.  Exotic fish like birds with long feathery tails swim above you in the sky, playfully floating around the branch-like antlers of the enormous 4-legged tree-like creature that slowly lumbers away from the hole.  A scarlet, crystalline praying mantis like insect hops onto the rim of the hole and seems to regard you with interest.

[OoC: The insect is Size: Fine (6 inches or less).  Just looking at the size differences, it would be like a Colossal Green Dragon trying to hide behind a small bush.  ]

[OoC2: And when I say "sky" I don't mean blue sky.  You're in a cave.  So the sky is the empty space beneath the ceiling of the cave.  The rocky ceiling does seem to sparkle.  You think it's likely from mineral deposits.  You've seen it in your own caves but never so sparkly and beautiful.]

The strange insect begins to groom its head and antenna with a pair of vicious looking modified claws while regarding the silent colossal kobold attempting to hide in front of it.

"Can we get out of here?" Tomeal asks irritability.

Dog whimpers while gingerly licking Selina's face.

Simon adds, "At least we can safely assume that the creature is probably  vegan. "

Crozar nods in agreement.  "Best to push on out," it says, "We can't do anything in here."

Selina groans, letting Dog down as she clambers to her feet, suddenly sick from the stench and nauseated from the near-deafening roar of the giant creature's gastric problems.  Leaning on her knees briefly, she vacates the contents of her stomach away from everyone, reaches blindly around in her pack for her waterskin and swirls some water around in her mouth.  Spitting that out, she takes a deeper drink and sighs.  "Ye-y...Yes.  Let us please move on before...before something worse happens" she responds weakly.

[[All of this occurs as Ning/Nang is scouting.]]

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
