[IC] Into Barovia
Sumayl tries to apply his shoulder to the door. Open Doors check [1d20] = 14
It might as well be made of stone.

Attempting to break in the door makes a lot of noise.  Especially in Barovia where there's no other sound.  When your shoulder hits the door the bang echos off the buildings.  You pause a moment as the noise quickly dissipates but you hear no response.  Not even a dog barks back.

Aly decides to give it a try.  She leans back and then drives her shoulder into the door.

Open Doors: [1d20] = 11; Success!

"Apparently, you weakened it," Aly says to the cavalier.  She then motions to the interior of the home and asks.  "After you?"

The door does break open.  From the porch you can't see anything inside except thin slices of dull light that shines through the cracks between the boarded up windows.

Rhoderic will move to cover Sumayl's entry into the building, readying a shot should something attack.

Sumayl will pause and retrieve his hooded lantern, lighting it. He slings his shield onto his back leaving his left hand free for the lantern, and enters the building.

Everyone enters the house.  The lantern lights up a common room where there's a dining room table with 6 chairs in the middle of the room, and a door in the back wall with a bone cold wood stove to its right and a staircase going up, to its left.  Dust illuminated by your lantern hangs in the air, only slightly disturbed by you entering the dwelling.  A sob suddenly breaks the silence.  It seems to be coming from upstairs.

Sumayl immediately heads for the stairs and up.

Assuming Aly and Rhodric follow, you all rush upstairs.  There are only a few rooms so you easily find were the sobbing is coming from.  Inside the cold bedroom, through the slices of dull light that pierce the gloom though boarded up windows, you see a woman sitting on the floor in the center.  She seems to be clutching something that looks like a small toy, maybe a doll, in her hands.  The woman does not react to your arrival and just continues sobbing.

Sumayl stops short and scans the rooms for threat. Deciding there is none he sheathes his scimitar, and glances at Aly, as if to say.. well?

He speaks slowly and he hopes calmly. "Lady, can you hear me? You are alright, we are here to help...."

This is nbot something he can battle, he is unsure of what to say or do, and it is obvious. He is skilled at debte, so he is no slouch at speaking, but debate is just like fighting with a sword, defend, parry ripostre.. it has very little to do with emotion.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
