Malcolm's (Malcontent) & Johnny B Dorm Room
#91
(08-29-2015, 08:05 PM)Aurum Wrote: Aurum slaps Johnny's hands away from her face and gives him an ugly snarl. "Get off, tech-boy. I'm busy." Stepping past him to get closer to the forcefield, she responds to Xavier's question that wasn't directed at her. "That's what I'm trying to do, Prof. Contain it. Wouldn't want it to ruin your carpets. Now if you could just keep this guy from distracting me..."

Johnny is shocked by Aurum snarling at him and telling him to, Get off.  Almost everything about her had changed in that moment.  It was her but the facial expression, the tone in her voice, even that special something in her beautiful eyes were different.  It was like the surprise reveal in a horror movie when you learn the person you love was something else.  Johnny takes a step back and watches while his girlfriend is even using completely different powers to subdue the blob-thing.  He looks at the Professor with worry while he tries to reason out what was going on in front of him.  But he is apparently so surprised by what just transpired that he can't fathom what was going on.

[OoC: I rolled a 1 on my reason check!  Johnny was so shocked he nearly gave himself an aneurysm.   Tongue ]

When Aurum seems to return to normal, he's still keeps a few steps back, not really knowing what to do.  Looking down at the ground he tries to think about something else.  The blob.  What was it?  Why was it here?  Why were his friends different?  What was the common thread in all this?

[OoC: Going to try to use hyper intelligence again.  If I can, I will add Karma to the roll.  Lets hope I don't have a stroke trying to piece this together.   Tongue  Well at least it wasn't a 1 but I don't think a 14 is going to do it either.  Confused  So if possible I need to add at least 12pts of Karma for a green feat/ 42pts of Karma for a yellow feat/ or 77pts for a Red feat. ]

Graffiti wasn't sure what to do.  She has her ninja ready to strike and a force dome that was reinforced by Aurum's solidified shadow, which was strange.  How did her telepath friend suddenly exhibit these new powers that were oddly similar to Gloom, her other missing friend.  Gloom and Canker had both left with Miss Frost to join her academy when soon after they were attacked by the Sentinels.  Most of the Hellions were killed in the attack and Graffiti had hoped that Gloom and Canker had escaped but it had been a few months and there was no word from either of them.

"We don't know how long this thing can be contained," Graffiti finally says.  "I don't think energy constructs are permanent so we need to think quickly before it possibly finds a way to escape."

Health: 34/56

"My electricity powers did absolutely nothing, but it sure hurt my arms when I touched it.  And I'm sure running really fast won't help.  If it wasn't for you guys, Malcolm and I would be dead."  Jack continues to think.  "We don't want to kill it because there are minds inside it.  Kind of like a Mind Elemental.  Maybe extract each mind carefully.  Like we are playing the game 'Operation', though they do not have bodies but what happened to you Ros?  You looked waaay different."

Aurum looks at Jack, then Johnny, with a frown, shaking her head slightly. "Why is everyone staring at me? There are more important things to worry about. Stop... Stop thinking about me." Then her gaze trails Miranda. Now that is a bit odd, considering the circumstances. She starts there, trying to unravel the weave of thought-echoes around her and trace them. While doing so, she talks, mostly to Xavier. "There's communication happening, between this thing and students, but everything is so jumbled, I can't tell who is affected and who isn't yet, or what direction the communication is going. I'm trying to get more focus on it now." Understandably not getting support from Johnny, she doesn't push it. Instead, she puts her hand on Xavier's.

Telepathy - Incredible [1d100] = 81

]Next, she checks Johnny and Jack, for good measure.

Telepathy - Incredible [1d100] = 97
Johnny

Telepathy - Incredible [1d100] = 18
Jack

Gedeon sits down next to Malcolm, half paying attention to what is going, and spending the rest of her attention on the kid. "Come on. Sit. We'll rest until it is our turn for the telepath to check us out, then we can see about getting your wounds looked at. Then... maybe there will be more dessert." Her sword melds back into her body, making her seem far less like a warrior.

Malcolm slumps om the bed next to the smashed window.

"i.. I think I'll be ok, when that thing grabbed me it felt very 'wrong', like if it weren't for my power to take a beating it could have killed me very fast."

"Stay back from it, hitting it with blades will just make you it's victim. I hope the Professor knows what to do with it, or the golden girl.. Aurum?"

Porsche moves over to put the ninja between herself and the dome, guessing that the ninja will fade before the dome does, and give her warning. She does not drop her heat sheath yet.

"Oh. That reminds me. Professor!" From her spot on the floor, she cranes her neck around the dome. "Its weaknesses. Fire, intense heat, and disinfectant. It's... made of bacteria maybe? Telepathic bacteria? I don't know." She slumps back down, looking at Malcolm. "The thinking part isn't my job..." Pausing, she points at her temple. "Weakness detection. I didn't mention it. It's my secret power. Anyway. You did good. Now, they'll do their thing and we'll... help, if there's anything they need us to do."

While Aurum scans the students the professor listens to all the teens searching for any new information.  When Gedeon mentions 'disinfectant' and 'telepathic bacteria,' his eyes widen a bit and he replies, "You may be partially correct!  Gedeon, can you use your weakness detection upon one of the students that is acting strangely?"

Meanwhile, Aurum doesn't sense anything coming from the Professor or Johnny but when she attempts to scan Jack, she senses that something isn't right.  It's not the same pleading for help but there is an uneasy presence within him.

[OoC: RE: Hyper Intelligence or any other power that players wish to use in a way that it wasn't meant for or has multiple powerful uses such as electrical generation or light emission usually require a power stunt.  Unfortunately Hyper Reason is one of the least useful of the hyper stat boost powers with possibly only Hyper Intuition being less useful depending upon the situation.  So to make leaps of logic or reason that might effect the game will require a power stunt.  Reason can still be used for the various Reason skills because anyone can try to use them untrained.  So a power stunt for a 'Computer Mind' to combine and sort through relevant data would cost 100pts + 72pts (red feat)=172 karma points!]

Wonders why people are looking at him, especially the mindy ones.  He doesn't give it much thought as he waits for answers.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
