[IC] Chapter 1-10: Crypt of Hate

OOC - Wow. Never thought about this one. And would accept this argument if you happened to try that, still, maybe more useful to keep the item for yourselves just in case something "unexpected" happens...
OoC: Toot will offer to try to use the headband, cloak and lightsaber.  Who knows, maybe they will work when used by a druid or Fey.
Well, so far it was just Portho who could use the light sabre. Maybe because a forest gnome is as close to a fey as a demihuman can ever get, or maybe because he just intuitively invoked the ancient power word.
The hilt of the Sword of Light looks ridiculously large in Toot's hands (about the shaft of a heavy mace or warhammer of the tiny druid's size) and if he invokes the words... well, frankly, nothing happens.
The cloak is like a makeshift tent to him; it would need serious tailoring to be able to wriggle (let alone walk) while engulfed in the thing.
The headband was a bit too large even for Portho, only the bard's ears prevented it from becoming a necklace. For Toot, it's more like a tool for gymnastic exercise.
In spite of the difficulties above, if Toot takes the effort to wear those things... he won't learn anything new.
Ooc - what about Lugar's attempt, see last page. Portho sang a song to give +2 UMD as well.
OOC - So Lugar tried to find out how to use the items to command the construct, means he went there... alone or in company?
Ooc - He would need at least one other to join him to test if he had control of the construct. Someone not afraid to get wet?

SG follows him.
Maul mutters something like,
"I'm not sure it is a great idea"
Will the two proceed into the vault with Giant staying outside and Lugar entering, if I got it correctly?
When Lugar dons the items does he get any understanding of their functions, like Torin did, or sense any control over the guardian?

Ooc- is the construct still submerged underneath the water and stone? If it is we need to figure a way for it to sense two presences, so I would think we both enter. Also, it is commanded to let undead pass but how would it know if something is dead or alive? If all else fails we drool, stare blankly, and groan like zombies as we do the zombie shuffleSmile
Lugar learns exactly the same as Torin. Him being the creator won't enable him to change the instructions.
He's also aware of the following:
- If Lugar enters and the construct can't sense Giant (regardless whether Giant's inside or outside) then it will do its best to stop (read: "annihilate") Lugar.
- If both of them enter and the construct senses both of them then it will try to stop both of them.
Thus, to keep the construct inert they have to ensure that it senses both of them before one of them enters.
However, down there where it is it would probably be unable to reach the two on the cellar level.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
