Missing Caravan
Betim will whip a crystal into her hand, but rather than letting loose she is going to hold her throw to see if Piper can talk sense into his tribe members.

[Ready action, if they attempt to launch/throw more attacks at anyone she will thropw her crystal]

[OoC]let me know if you want me to pre-roll the readied attack or just wait

OOC - I didn't mean to bury Mardak here and now. I had the idea that we are about to free whomever we can in this cave, then go back to the surface together, carrying Mardak's remains.

Nacesh looks at his hands burnt by the rope then snaps his attention to the ceiling, trying to spot whoever's working the trap. He knows all too well that they must be kobolds and not spiders but whether charmed ones or those trying to protect their home was yet to find out.
"We are friends of you, dragonkin!" He calls out in Draconic, trying to play on their pride as well, calling them like that (and he means it, actually).
Diplomacy [1d20+6] = 13+6 = 19

Selina does not speak Draconic, so all that comes from Nacesh seems, to her, to be garbled growls. But it seems to be working to an extent. She finishes pulling Betimi clear and then slips around in front of her, shield between them and the rock-wielding kobolds.

((I would like to add that I hope everyone waits until Cleric finishes what Cleric needs to do before continuing. Piper might be able to heal and use heal wands, but his allegiance to the group is...tenuous, I would say.))

There is some 'Yarping' noises from the hole to which Piper 'yarps' back.  He then says in common, "Stop attacking!  Unreth is dead!  These people saved us.  Come out and help release our captive friends from the webs!"  [Diplomacy check: 30]

There's a pause and then two rope ladders drop down from the hole.  You then see several green Kobolds begin climbing down and assisting their tribesmen off the ceiling.

Piper then turns to the rest of you and says, "Show me the corpse of Unreth!"

Selina looks at Piper like he's grown two heads. She gently pulls him aside, turns away from the incoming kobolds, and turns him away as well, trusting in Tomeal to watch her back. She leans close to him and whispers to him.

"Are you mad?? Why on Earth would we be cutting through these webs if we had already killed her? We did a lot of damage to her recently, but she is not yet dead as far as we know."

She turns and gives a quick smile to the other kobolds...before turning back to Piper.

"Very well. Sell that we are doing something helpful please. We were going to destroy her anyway. Get your tribe to start releasing the captives."

She then turns and present her most regal bearing as she responds So that the other kobolds can hear.

"We shall collect the Monstrosity's corpse and bring it here."

((Looks like we have no choice but to proceed now.))

Piper looks at Selina and goes slack-jawed.  "You mean you haven't killed it?  I assumed with the door being opened and you all seemed like you were relaxed enough to start seeing to your dead --which I'm terribly sorry for your loss -- that you had finished the deed.  And you cutting through the webs was to aid us in rescuing the others."  Piper looks around at all of you and then leans in to whisper, "Certainty you don't think the score of kobolds hanging from the ceiling is all of us?  I mean, you must have heard of the legends of how... Ummm... fertile we Kobolds are and our incredible birth rates."

Piper begins rapidly pacing back and forth.  "No no no, Unreth must be furious!  He will certainly be looking for revenge."  Suddenly stopping to look at Selina with tears in his eyes, he whimpers, "He's going to slaughter them all.  My people.  Your guards.  The little girl's family.  All will be devoured by Unreth!"

Selina closes her eyes and counts to ten to force some calm. There was no going back now. Everything depended on them destroying that disgusting, bilous retch.

"No, Powwaw. We still must finish the deed. And now it seems that there is truly no time like the present. Very well all. We move with all cautious speed. Time to finish this."

Tomeal asks, "Would this be a good time for some of you to use the anti-toxin?"

While the group quickly readies themselves, Tomeal says, "I don't mind leading the assault.  But my suggestion for marching order is Jonath for trap searching, then me, Selina, Nacesh, Betimi, and finally Gilley.  Please, I'm not a prideful man so if any of you have something to add or a better idea then please speak."

Piper takes this time to cure Betimi's wounds from the falling rocks.  After casting the cure spell which completely heals her, he says, "Is there anyone else injured.  I would rather use my spells then to waste charges on Selina's wand."

"I apologiz for the misunderstanding Piper," Jonath says earnestly. "I did not intend to mislead you into thinking the beast was dead. I only wanted to let you in so that you could begin to free those captives in this room while we chased down Unreth to finish it off, and in hopes of valuable information. It fled down that tunnel," he says, pointing to where Tomeal had pushed his way through the webbing. "Do you know anything about what lies down that way, such as traps or hiding places from which we could expect an ambush?"

Selina nods and shrugs to Tomeal. "I have no objections to such an arrangement."

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
