[IC] SOLO - Toot's Adventure
"You have too much terror within the confines of a body too little too house it, minute master," are the last words Toot can hear from Kiera and they actually sound cheerful if not relieved.

Inside there is dead silence. Toot feels as if they were in magical silence because he can't even hear the comforting sound of Boo breathing. But he can hear himself and based on the bear's reaction he can hear the doodid as well. After another shake off his head he manages to pick a leech from both of his ears. Edible earplugs?

Approaching the slight turn Toot peeks in and can see that the cavity proceeds East, about sixty feet before widening into a hollow. Halfway to the right there is a side tunnel or at least a niche out of which emanates the pulsating light some three feet wide and seven feet high. The carrion scent comes from the cavern ahead. Boo can't sense anything else nearby, just the dank earth and stake water behind.

Toot pulls the leech out of his ear and squishes it between his fingers and then tosses it into his mouth.  "Mmmmm... chewy," Toot says happily.  He finishes chewing the leech between his sharp teeth and then swallows.  Toot then takes out the dagger with the glowing tip.  He considers snapping the tip off but instead he wraps the blade with a bit of cloth then tucks it into the belt of Boo's exotic saddle, on the side of the bear's body.  "Dere Boo, you be able to see!" the Jermlaine whispers quite pleased with himself. [I hope unless the DM says otherwise.] Toot then reaches back to his haversack and summons his Ten Foot pole.  He then slowly and quietly proceeds down the tunnel while gently tapping the ground, walls and ceiling for anything suspicious.  Toot also summons the power of his hat to shrink down as small as he can [Which I believe is 9" tall] and uses the shadow of Boo's body to hide.

Now on his way, Toot sneaks with Boo down the passage.  When he spots the side tunnel, Toot whispers for Boo to move closer to the wall to press the dagger to the wall to help dim or limit the range of the light from the weapon's tip.  They then quietly move to investigate while still gently tapping around with the ten foot pole.
The tunnel is quiet, only a barely audible humming comes from the side light which proves to be a cylinder swirling rainbow colours located in a roughly hemispherical niche barely larger than the cylinder itself.

Looking forward, Toot can see that the room ahead is about 30 feet before it continues in another tunnel.

Toot will attempt to use his Spellcraft (11) [Rolled a 22] to try to figure out what this cylinder of rainbow lights could be.

Toot will pick up a stone and toss it at the light and immediately take a 5' step behind the corner for cover.
This may be a permanent extradimensional gate. Druids use plants as means of teleportation but arcane casters prefer light and pools and stuff.

The rock disappears in the cylinder without any noise of impact.

Toot shakes his head.  "Me no likey," he says to Boo, using the spell he previously cast.  "We could be disintegrated or teleported to giant dinner plate.  But lets try this..."

Toot picks up another rock and wraps one end of his ball of string around it.  He gives himself some slack and then throws the rock into the light.  Toot then pulls the string to see if the stone is still attached or if it's gone.
The stone is gone.
Toot inspects the string to see if it was cut or if the loop is still there but the rock is gone.

Toot will then move at quarter speed (10'/rnd) and continue sneaking down the tunnel.  He continues to quietly tap the ground, walls and ceiling with his 10' pole in an effort to find anything suspicious or to set off any traps at a distance.
The rock is gone. The loop is intact.
As Toot and Boo sneak east they reach the chamber he spotted ahead. It's a domed cavern about 40 feet across and more than 40 feet high. The tunnel continues on the east side.

Signs of recent battle adorn the floor, including four lumps of what remind Toot of octopi; about three feet across (OOC - small).
Boo sniffs at the corpses and confirms what Toot had in mind-- "These are not animals" then he picks up another scent and finds a patch of blood on the floor. "This is humanoid blood."
Toot knows that Boo's vocabulary is too tight to distinguish between the many humanoid races, and the term may actually be anything that is a mammal and roughly humanoid. Toot's quite sure that if it were a cold-blooded humanoid (lizardman or kobold) Boo would use a different term.

There is silence, except occasional noise of heavy creatures stomping abovehead; Toot guesses that he is pretty close to the bullettes' nest.
Scratching his chin he whispers to Boo, "If these beasts have Eggs or younglings they could be sold for lots of gold.  Toot think maybe 3000 gold pieces and higher. [According to Races of Stone]  Me tempted to try steal some.  Give Boo and Toot lots of good food for bellies."  He considers raiding the nest but decides against it.   He also thinks that this tunnel likely goes to where Kiera said there was an entrance close to the creatures.  Looking back toward the light, Toot sighs and says while scratching boo's neck, "Toot thinks we need to go through light.  Hope it portal to some place good and not to room filled with giant rocking chairs."

He returns with Boo to the light and climbs up onto Boo's neck and secures himself to his saddle.  "Ok Boo, you ready to go through," Toot says while summoning his repeating crossbow and lifting his shield in front of him to give him as much cover as possible.  When Boo indicates he's ready, Toot orders Boo to heel to force his companion to move into a place he may not want to go and then moves into the light.

[OoC: Readying an action to shoot anything that attacks them]

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
