Missing Caravan
"If we burn it out do you think we can prevent the fire from spreading back into this room? if we clear enough webbing?"

Betimi says out loud to no one in particular as she studies the web around the tunnel entryway.

I do not like the idea of trying to claw our way through that in order to follow.

Gilley scratches his head slightly, then shrugs. "Burnin' stuff isn't my forte. Though, we wouldn't have to worry about it coming back into this room, if we found the captives and sent them on their way... Except us, of course. Not interested in getting burned."

"Burn it out," Tomeal asks Betimi.  "You have strange powers miss.  Are you privy to information that the rest of us are not?  This web filled stairway could lead out of the caves for all we know.  Perhaps our friend Jonath should check out the door to the east.  [I-11]  If I'm not mistaken, Piper said the trigger to the door trap was on this side.  If we get it open maybe Piper will have more information.  While he does that, I can continue to try to bust through these sheets of web."  Tomeal suddenly bashes his way though another barrier of webbing. [Rolled a 21]

"It looks like fate still smiles upon me," Tomeal states while wiping off the last remnants of sticky webbing that clung to his body.  "I think there's about two or three more layers of this web to break through."

Selina finally manages to reassert control of her anger. "Burn it. It will take forever to cut our way through this as well as, perhaps, anything else that monstrosity might have set up for us." She takes a few deep breaths as she kneels beside the still form of Mardak, attempting to ascertain if he is completely lost to them. If he is not, she had a wand to aid in bringing him back.

"And how to control the fire?" Nacesh asks. "Just look around; look at us. We are all cobweb tip to toe, not mentioning clothing and other heat sensitive objects," he says, brandishing his wand. "Free the captives and hit the road, I say."

"And leave that...that thing alive to cause more chaos and endanger more lives? I cannot agree to that."

"You misunderstood me Sir Tomreal. Selina has the right of what I mean.  I meant burn the stairs clear rather than hack and bash our way through. I did not mean flush the creature out. If we can find some way to avoif having the flames come back at us that is, otherwise all we can do is press on the hard way, which is exactly what the creature wants."

"My apologies," Tomeal replies.  "When you said, burn 'it' out, I thought the 'it' you were referring to was the spider not the staircase.  And if I sounded snippy when I asked if you were privy to additional information I did not mean to be.  You've done some strange albeit useful things in the last two days I've had the honor of knowing you.  So I was ligitimately curious if you did some how gain additional knowledge with your ways."

Tomeal takes a deep breath and then attempts to break through the next next 5' of webbing and once again rips through the barrier.

Selina moves over to check Mardak's vitals and finds that he's very dead.

[OoC: New map.  Sorry I didn't draw in all the web but you get the idea.]

Selina sighs a bit sadly and stands. She hadn't liked the man very much. In point of fact, he disgusted her on a human level. But he was a person, an individual. He was gifted the same rights she had, regardless of how he chose to utilize them. And this monstrosity had now taken that away from him, as it had all these kobolds. If nothing else, she wanted the creature to suffer painfully for every individual it had taken advantage of. She wanted that, but knew deep down that it would have made her like the creature to do that. So she simply resolves to end it as soon as she can.

"We make our way up those stairs, as carefully as we can, given the trap capabilities of that miscreation. When we reach it, we kill it. No mercy or quarter will I give it, for it has given none itself. It made its choices."

"Agreed on that point, but I will go see if I can get that door open and let Piper in, if he wishes to come. He may know something about what lies at the bottom of those stairs or any other traps, plus I'm sure he will be eager to set to freeing his people." While the others continue to work out how to open a passage through the webbing down the stairs, he heads to the east to inspect the passage and attempt to disengage the trap and open the way for Piper.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
