Spot Check = [1d20+3]=8+3=11

With Tomeal's help, Selina and Simon both spot the humanoids.  From her angle, Selina notices something very odd about the humanoids.  Their bare feet do not seem to be touching the ground and the right calf of the closest humanoid seems to have had all it's flesh torn off, exposing white bone!

Tomeal continues to concentrate and winces from being unaccustomed to sensing the strength of pure evil emanating from the humanoids.  "I'm sensing Moderate strength evil," he whispers to Selina and anyone close by.  "I really think we should confront them sooner rather than later.  And I'm not just saying that because I'm a Paladin now!  If we begin traveling, they will no doubt wait until we are in a compromised position to launch an attack!  We can't afford to be flanked from behind while engaged in combat with other Torque touched creatures, or be crossing over a narrow ledge or bridge and be suddenly attacked!"

"You mean my pet rat could be just the thing to keep me safe?" She asks skeptically.

Crozar nods and says, "When travelling through a Torque zone, anything that you can find that is normal to you is a useful thing to have to judge the weirdnesses you will encounter against.  And you never know when a sudden bite or scratch can be just the distraction needed to throw off an attacker's train of thought or action."  He watches the rat for a moment and adds, "Also, as you said, you wouldn't leave him caged, and it is my experience that loyal pets will follow their owners unless they have something that prevents them from doing so.  Most likely, he will follow you anyway, so you might as well keep him close for control and comfort."

"I'm afraid once we leave the vicinity of my home, Whiskers and I will be as susceptible to the Torque as the rest of you.  The only reason why we haven't dissolved into the chaos is because of the giant circle of protection I've placed on the property.  I've arranged the squash and vines in such a way that uses them as the outline of a protection circle.  The vines have been fortified again and again over the decades I've been trapped here.  That's not to say I haven't been affected by the Torque at all.  In fact, much of my trouble walking and climbing stairs is caused by the Torque.  So, while I suppose Whiskers might come in handy in a pinch, I'm not sure if it's even fair to bring her with me when she could just stay in the circle and be protected with lots of food."

"If you think she will stay there, you are likely correct." Crozar responds with a nod.

[[Pala-dar FTW.]]

Selina just nods in response.  Having gotten a solid look at them, the exposed bone, the fact that they seem to be floating, the intensity of the Evil they exude, and the fact that they did not just rush in to attack, Selina concludes that if they are the Undead, they are likely to be intelligent Undead waiting for an opportune time to strike.  She sees no reason to give that to them.  Drawing her greatsword, she then grasps her symbol and murmurs to everyone around her "Gather around..."

[[Preparing to cast Bless when everyone is close enough to her.  CL check incoming...bonus is...+9??  Right??  Or did the Anti-chaos field dissipate?]]
[[EDIT: Her CL is 4, +2 from the area, I think you said, so +6]]

[OoC: Everyone who it informed of the humanoids can make another spot check at +5 to see if their eyes can pinpoint where the humanoids are hiding and possibly gain additional information, if you roll high enough.]

Tomeal Spot: [1d20+11]=12+11=23, Simon spot: [1d20+16]=6+16=22; I will wait to reveal any additional information when at least 1 PC makes another spot check.

Tomeal suddenly remembers he's no mere warrior anymore.  He doesn't look directly toward the humanoid's position but keeps them within his 60' cone of evil detection.  [This round]  He concentrates on their aura and for the first time since becoming a Paladin he detects evil.  Part of him is elated that it actually worked!  But then [2nd Round]  he senses two aura's of evil emanating from the humanoids.  Which was what he detected with his Spot check.

"I sense two auras of evil," Tomeal whispers.  [He will know next round the strength of that evil.]

With her crossbow loaded Betimi calmly moves toward the door of the hut, knocks quickly twice and says through the door.

"If you are almost done inside, we could really use your assistance outside with delivering a warm welcome to some new guests."

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
