Since Jonath stealth hasn't made him disappear out of the parties view, everyone can see that he freezes in place. And Betimi nearly blows her ear drums [you rolled a 1

Jonath then slips back to the rest of you and explains that he saw a couple of kobold guards at the mouth of a cave. Jonath will also suggest that they will need to take them out fast so they don't set off any alarms or run for reinforcements.
Tomeal will whisper, "Do any of you spellcasters have some magic that will help out? I've seen sleep spells that would likely take these creatures out before they can raise the alarm."
