[OopC are yiouy sure? Deflect has a higher DC    defect you make a UtF check against the attack roll, Negate Energy you just have to roll against the damage.  In this case you would have succeeded either way, but without metagaming you will usally have an easier time succeeding vs the damage since yoiur Reflex Defense is already 18 9in fact with your UTF +13 you actually auto succeeded vs the 12 damage but you would not have known that ahead of tim) ]
