[IC] The Dwarven Ruins
#41
Sorry...

Torin can see nothing new that looks as promising as the stone archway. However, searching it does not reveal anything new either.
(map updated)
#42
- The left corridor turns left after a few meters and the right turns right also. Let us start with the left way. - Torin says and starts in the left way.
#43
Torin heads left, not really concerned about Portho following him or not and his heart races as he spots a skeleton sitting in the southwest corner of the left hall. Dwarven remains without doubt, and the bones are barely covered by some remains of a blue ceremonial robe. The shaft of a broken spear pokes out of its chest, the tip of the spear buried within the robe.
#44
Torin turns back and checks the right side also.

- Don't afraid there is a dwarven skeleton.

If he doesn't find anything interesting there then comes back and visits the dwarven remains.
#45
Portho moves through the illusion then after glancing west moves about 20' down the corridor to the east, scanning with his spell.
#46
Portho detects no further secret doors anywhere in the whole hallway or either of the rooms at the ends.
The two find nothing of interest in the east room, aside from a shelf that has been carved into the wall, pretty much the same way as the pantry, but smaller. The shelf itself is empty.

Returning to the dwarven remains Torin makes the first look. There's a medallion hanging from a shiny chain; likely mithril; a circular shape depicting seven stars and some red river. Torin is puzzled seeing this symbol but Portho recalls that it is no river-- it is a flow of red mist; the symbol is that of Mystra, a greater goddess who supposedly died in the Time of Troubles. Who knows how old these remains may be. As appropriate for a priest for a goddess of magic Torin spots the caps of a double scroll case protruding from underneath the robe's remaining rippled stripes.
#47
What does know Torin about Mystra (OOC - Know(religion) check=21)

- I will search magic.
Torin casts his last Detect Magic spell and checks everything: the skeleton and his items, the stone door, the selves, this and the previous chamber (which start with the 3 doors with gargoyle heads) and Protho and his items.

OOC - spellcraft checks for detect magic: 34, 23, 17, 23, 23, 22, 23, 24, 35, 21, 34, 18, 25, 26, 30

Now that Portho identified the symbol the title pops into Torin's mind: Mother of All Magic. Back in the Time of Troubles dwarven wizards were really few and far between; an interesting choice to become a dwarven cleric of the Lady of Mysteries but this seems to be the case here.

The scroll case on the dwarven remains (or more likely whatever's within) emanates a faint, mixed magic aura with transmutation and enchantment.

The stone door also emanates a strong magic aura but that's beyond the dwarven cleric's ability to recognise.
The next thing that radiates magic is the pantry shelf; that of faint conjuration.
The gargoyle heads with open mouths or the one the key is still stuck within don't detect as magical. They must be completely mechanical, if any.
There are no further auras detected in the vicinity.

Assuming Portho stays in one place long enough for concentration to kick in Torin identifies a mixed aura of enchantmnet, transmutation, conjuration and divination; emanated by several items but the cloak's enchantment distorts the rest to be able to identify one by one.

OOC - What year is it? (Time of Twoubles started at 1358 DR)
OOC - I didn't found the offical rule. Can a PC retry the "determine the school of magic" spellcraft check? How often (once / day)?
OOC - The medalion seems as a holy symbol?

- The stone door emanates a strong magic aura and the shelf in the big chamber emanates a faint conjuration magic. There is a dwarven rune above it, which means pantry.

Torin examines the dwarven skeleton and his equipments, he tries to find out his name, clan or subrace. Then he takes the double scroll case and try to identify the scrolls. (OOC - use my previous spellcraft checks). Torin puts away a fingerbone.

After this he "buries" the skeleton (with or without with his medalion) and prayes for the spellcaster's soul.

- I think we can try to find out that how can we use this shelf. I need more time to examine this unique magical door.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
