Missing Caravan
(03-27-2016, 03:46 PM)Betimi Wrote: "Mardak, if you are incapable of restraint, then we shall roll you in webbing and leave you stuck to a wall while we complete our task"

Then seeing Selina's grimace of disgust at his licking her hand she adds.

"I'll leave it to Selina to decide if we cut breathing holes in the web."

Mardak tries to reply but with Selina's hand over his mouth, he only manages a mumble.

(03-27-2016, 08:07 PM)Selina Parcellus Wrote: Selina's face curls in disgust as he licks her hand and she releases his chin, but only so she can backhand him.   Hard.   With a chainmail covered hand.  Giving him no more of her attention, she turns to Gilley and nods at his ideas.   Fire would flush the monstrosities out at the possible cost of hanging captives.   Selina had no real interest in taking that chance.   Now that they were likely to be the victims of an ambush thanks to Mardak's stupidity,  Gilley's second idea of looking for tracks sounds more fruitful.

Just as Mardak was about to remove Selina's hand so he could reply to Betimi, she removes it for him.  He smiles at being released and opens his mouth to talk but he gets a hard backhand across his jaw.  Mardak was shocked at the woman's sudden attack but school's his expression so he doesn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that she hurt him.  He was a man after all and he wasn't going to be shown to be hurt by a girl.  Instead he wipes the bit of blood away with his wrist and chuckles, "If you like it rough, all you had to do was ask."

While the group decides what to do next, you all begin to see movement on the other side of the bridge.  Some of the Kobolds who are completely bound up and hanging from the the ceiling with webbing begin to silently stir and start struggling.  Your eyes quickly scan the area and then you spot two small spiders emerge from the webbing along the far wall (where the southern most "T" is located) and begin to approach the defenseless Kobolds.

"We need to move fast whatever we do, I don't think that Piper will be happy if we let more of his people die."

Betimi, crossbow readied begins to work her way east carefully until she can get a clear shot at the small spiders [She has Precise shot feat so is less fearful of strikingthe dangling kobolds by accident.]

*Initiatives for Tomeal and Gilley
[Due to ties, I bumped up Nacesh, Jonath and Gilley.  Jonath and Gilley have the same roll because they have the same rolls and modifiers.]]

Selina nods at Betimi.  "Agreed.  We move."

[[Small, I know.  But we're about to enter combat anyway and Selina is a naughty little fly and probably going to get caught in a web.  Wink]]

Betimi moves forward to just past the first web curtain [F3] then turns and makes her way west to where the web curtain curves [F6], she then moves south 15' to [I6], and follows the curve of the back wall to [J9]. [Total movement 60' = double move]

[OoC: I will update the map later but any square that has an 'X' in it that touches another square with an 'X' is considered a wall and difficult terrain and will require the same saves as a web spell to pass through. The webs also provide cover and possibly concealment. ]

OOC - if I get it right the kobolds are all beyond the bridge and the spiders are also closer to the far end so it's practically impossible to get to them in time, dimension door excluded of course.

"Probably a trap" the sorcerer warns the others, "but can't stay here forever"

Nacesh moves up as close to the spiders as he can with as little cover in line of fire as possible and shoots.
OOC - can he squeeze through C6 to D7 with a single move? If he can't his destination is F6 or G6 (whichever fits in full move).
Light crossbow point blank AC [1d20+4] = 16+4 = 20 damage [1d8+1] = 1+1 = 2
(wow Smile AC19 damage 1 if he can't get within point blank range. Hope AC19 will hit the spider in spite of the cover...)

As the small spiders begin to move in on the defenseless kobolds, Jonath scowls as he considers the masses of webbing blocking their path. If he was larger or stronger he would consider charging straight through the webs to get to them sooner, but he was afraid he would only succeed in getting himself helplessly trapped if he tried that, which would do no one any good. Instead he dashes off around them, hoping the attacks of his companion will be enough to distract the enemy from their prey. Unfortunately, just as he clears the large mass of webs between the group and the kobold captives, he notices the bridge itself is also blocked by a mass of webbing. With no other alternative that he can see, he continues on into it, doing his best to avoid the largest, thickest strands and hoping to break through the smaller masses.

[OoC: Full move, E3->F4->F6->H8->G9->F8->E8, which puts me right at the bridge.
Reflex:[1d20+9] = 5+9 = 14
Uh oh, not a great roll...]

A couple of people were having trouble seeing the light blue on white.  So I've updated the map in a better color and drawn lines to help show difficult to pass or to shoot through areas.  I hope this helps.

[OoC: Thanks for the updated map, it's a bit clearer now. I took a look at my moves again, and it looks like I can make it to the start of the bridge, so I'm editing my post to reflect the Reflex save of trying to get through the web there.]

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
