Missing Caravan
"You are an idiot," Tomeal says with a sigh in the middle of Mardak's speech. He then leaves Mardak to his false ravings about Knights and oaths, and runs into the room to help the injured.

"I think I recognize a few of these people. A couple are locals, some are my comrades."

Betimi finds many of the people with injuries but none seem to be life threatening. All except the girl are unconscious and can't seem to be roused from their slumber. The girl continues to whimper loudly while futility trying to wiggle herself closer to the wall to get away from your group.

"Can someone with a less frightening countenance assist the young one?"

Betimi gestures at her own face. Knowing that her pox-ridden, diseased appearance, along with her already alien features must make her truly terrifying for a young whelp.

She turns back to checking on and attempting to minister to her charges along the east wall, muttering to herself. "He calls others honor into question..."

Then she pauses and decides to voice her opinion louder.

"Mardak before you call others honor into question, perhaps you might think to prove you have some yourself. You swore to assist us in the quest to get these people  to safety, on your life, if you do not then your opinion , and indeed your sworn oath, is worthless.  These people are hurt, but there is life in them yet. You are sworn, by your own vow, to aid them, do so"

"Do not be presumin' to lecture me on honor!!  Est Sularus Oth Mithas!!  My Honor Is My Life, Betimi!!"  Mardak, fuming and conflicted on what to do; Would have been an easy decision, if things were different.

In frustration of a battle inside his mind, almost as if he didn't like the result of the coin flips in his head.  Mardak mutters forcefully...

"Imma comin!!!" He goes in the room purposefully and grabs people whom are alive and carries them out.

"Just where do you intend on dragging that poor soul?! Let Selina have a chance to get them awake first, fool. What, do you intend to stack them outside, like firewood? Carrying them past places we have left unsecured all the while?"

Frustrated at the reckless idea of carrying the sleeping victims out one at a time, and even more angry that Mardak dare imply she would know nothing of honor and oaths, she decides to focus her attention elsewhere. Instead, she looks to the others.

"This slumber is deep, it must either be poison, or magic. Nacesh, Selina, can either of you tell which it be?"

[OoC this is fun, but gonna slow down now and let others catch up.]

Selina's eyes widen, then immediately soften as she sees the carnage and then the screaming child.  She closes her eyes and grits her teeth at Mardak's impulsive and crude actions, yet again.   When he finally stops acting like a boor, Selina rushes over to the girl, kneeling beside her bed as she starts pulling off one of her gloves.  She starts with the other one before remembering something and stops.  No, seeing that would likely frighten her even more.

"Hush now, sweet one.  Everything will be alright.  We are here to help and protect you.  All of you."

She continues to reassure the girl in soft, hushed whispers as she removes the little girl's gag and takes account of the bound girl's health and physical state.  Her face is gentle as a mother's, knowing the poor girl must be in a state of panic by now.

[[OOC: So...there's a grand total of 28 victims here? Not including our group for having to deal with Mardak for so long Tongue J/K!]]

[OoC: Actually there four beds with seven victims total.  So about 2 adults per bed with the little girl alone on a bed.  But I can see where you might read it as 28 victims with 7 per bed.]

Mardak picks up one of the victims and begins to cart her outside.  Then Betimi asks him what he's doing, to which Tomeal, whose watching in disbelief at the Hexblade's confusing behavior, just glances at her and shrugs.  Then with her, Stacking them outside like firewood, comment, Tomeal has to cover his mouth as if he's especially upset at the condition of the victims, to stifle a laugh.  Normally he would school himself better but the comment struck him as funny for someone to even need to sincerely ask.

Selina attempts to sooth the young girl [Taking 10 on Diplomacy] and though she is still obviously frightened the priest is able to calm her enough to remove her gag so she can get a good look at her physical state.  As Selina continues to softly talk with the girl, the priest can see some some bruising on her writs, arms and ankles, some in the shape of small hand prints.  Obviously the girl put up a struggle but the Kobolds restrained her tightly.  The girl wipes her eyes, smearing the filth across her face and whimpers, "Do... do you know where mom... mommy and dad... daddy are?"

Selina gives the girl her most supportive smile, taking her small hand gently as she uses a cloth to gently wipe her face. So brave, little one. How did you get to be so brave? She takes both of the girl's hands in her own.

"Do not worry, sweet girl. We will find them." She gives the girl a gentle kiss in the forehead before slowly rising to assess the health of the others they had found.

[[Ooc: hrm...thanks for clarifying. Does that mean 7 Heal checks?]]

"Told ya I used honor!!"  He exclaims "One there, one honor, another honor...See, jus' like firewood.  Jus' per yer askin'!!"

Then Mardak sees the little girl so he dusts himself off with his hat and tries to be all mannerly and stuff.

In his most charismatic voice he says in a fatherly tone as he sits on a bed "Comere' ya little squirt, let's see what ol' Mardak can do for you.  I won't bite sweetheart"  He says sweetly as he holds his arms open expectantly.

Selina's face goes blank as Mardak speaks, then she slowly turns her head to look at him, giving him her most serious 'wtf'look.

[OoC: Start with one heal check to see if you can figure out what has left the victims in such a state.]

The Hexblade, who under normal circumstances [Diplomacy +8] could calm the girl, approaches her and attempts to sooth her.  However, with him proclaiming loudly that everyone except the girl was dead, calling everyone dunderheads, him suddenly grabbing one of the injured and trying to walk off with them, him referring to the injured as firewood and his obvious frustration all seems to have soured the little girl especially when his personality suddenly changes when attempting to assuage her fears.  She now knows why her mother told her not to talk to strangers...

So instead, her eyes well up with tears and she throws herself into Selina's arms, begging her, "Please make him go away!!"

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
