Quote:"Are you still mad at me?"  Mardak asks Betimi

Guessing by her non-reponse, Mardak makes it a non-issue and answers it himself.  'Yes'

"Agreed. If we are to get any rewards we need solid proof even if the whole caravan is slaughtered. While this scene is fairly obvious I don't think some dried-up kobold corpses would serve as an implicit proof. We need bodies, belongings or whatnot."

It seems the terrifying slaughter brought forward the sorcerer's practical self instead of his usual community perspective.

[OoC player wise never was mad. In game it has been less than 12 hours.. and Mardak is still acting 'erratic"  so yup.. she's ignoring you]

"I see no bodies other than kobolds, human or otherwise.. perhaps their lives were snuffed on purpose as part of the ritual...  a sacrifice of their lives for something if you will. "

She seems oddly unconcerned at the idea of lives being sacrificed in ritual, like she could be talking about what they had for dinner last night.

She  moves in and continues to examine the circle, but is careful not to cross the edge of the circle.

Betimi takes a closer look at the area and decides it's doubtful this had to do with any ritual.  The softly glowing circle in the middle of the room looks more like a nest.  Where Kobolds lay their eggs and the softly glowing circle is actually an intricate incubation area to keep the eggs warm until time they hatch.  Selina notices a few (un)holy symbols on the adult corpses to the god Kurtulmak.  The Kobold god of War and Mining.  Likely one of their duties is to tend to the eggs.  But seeing as the adults are all withered husks and the eggs are destroyed with the embryos in similar condition, the priest likely died trying to protect their eggs.  Closer inspection of the corpses reveal that each victim has a pair of puncture wounds somewhere on their bodies.

Other features in the room is a passage leading to the east.  A single door to the west.  And a pair of double doors to the south east that has a sturdy board placed through the door handles.  Obviously you will have to remove the board to open the doors to that room.

Re-posting map so you don't have to go looking for it...

"We need to check those side passages and doors and leave those double doors barred.  Whatever slew these kobolds, did not kill the ones we encountered earlier, so it is likely trapped there and not roaming the mine. I wonder if the kobolds beyond the portcullis had closed the portcullis to protect themselves? Perhaps preparing for a last stand? In that case they would have any prisoners left alive with them, unless prisoners were abandoned in the chaos of whatever attacked this brood room."

She walks over to the door in the west and  puts her ear near the door quietly listening for any sound.

[Listen [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12]

She then motions Jonath over and politely asks "Can I aid you in searching this door?"

[Search (Aid another) [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12]

Mardak shrugs, guess it means several weeks of being ignored.  If she wants to play that game, guess her life might be in more danger than his own.

He pulls out his knife from his boot.  "These corpse looks like money to me!  Time to get me some ears."  Mardak starts cutting ears off the corpses of Kobolds.

(Collecting possible bounties by cutting off their ears.  I want to know how many Mardak can get before the group leaves.)

[OoC   umm not sure how my OoC explanation elicits an in character response???  Since there was no action by her that would change anything, exept she's probably the only one not even blinkinmg at the ear collection]

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
