Missing Caravan
[OoC: I believe Mardak was referring to Tomeal when he said, "Come on naked, grab some spears." Tomeal hasn't found anything to wear yet so he's been walking around in a loin cloth.]

Nacesh casts detect magic... [Magic items appear in Bold Blue]

On the 8 regular Kobolds:
86gp's total
8 small slings
8 small spears
8 suits of small leather armor

On Kobold Sorcerer:
70gp's
1 small quarter staff
1 ever burning torch
2 potions of cure light wounds (labeled in common)

On stripped body:
Loin Cloth
Broken Holy symbol
Clean white bandage

Tomeal will grab the robe of the Sorcerer and wrap it around his waist so he's a little less exposed.  He is very sturdily built so he doesn't have any problem with carrying whatever equipment the rest plan to keep.  He also graciously accepts the Crossbow that Betimi offers him.

Betimi then gets her idea and drags a kobold body over to the strange shelf in the door.  She opens the slot, drops him in and closes it up again.  After a few seconds she opens the shelf again and as if by magic, the body is gone.  In fact, everything you put in the slot disappears.

Tomeal watches and then asks, "Are they just rolling off that shelf when you close it or is there something else going on.  Jonath noticed drag marks on the floor leading up to the door.  Maybe the Kobolds had the same idea and were using it like a garbage dump.  But wouldn't it eventually get full?"

[OoC: Nacesh still needs to pick THREE 0-level spells and if one of those spells happened to be Prestidigitation then he could clean up any scorch marks left from his spell.  Prestidigitation isn't called, the Little Wish, for nothing.  You can do a lot with that little spell! ]

[[Yeah, Prestidigitation is freakin awesome.]]

Upon Nacesh finding out that the quarterstaff is magical, Selina knows that it would be best used in Jonath's hands.  However, none of them actually know what the magical qualities of the staff are.  So it might not be helpful at all, or it may even be harmful.  The cloth wrapped around the cleric's head was puzzling, and made her more than just a bit curious.

"That ever-burning torch will be quite useful to us.  It does not emit heat or consume oxygen, so it can be covered with a cloth when we need darkness."

She looks at the slot Betimi was injured by, then the kobolds, then the drag marks and gains a bit of clarity.

"I do believe that whatever that receptacle is is enchanted to consume whatever is placed inside."

"What are ye talkin' about?"  He looks back to Nacesh, then finds out the sorceror was talking to someone else.  "Look if'n guardin' isn't fer you, then go help them."  He says to the Sorceror.  "I will kill any bitch that decides to come through." he says while standing at the gate close to the bridge.

"Really," Tomeal replies with a hint of surprise and wonder. "Why don't cities like Cantus do that kind of thing?" Then he gets an idea. "Nacesh, you still have your magic detection on? If you do and you're done detecting for magic items, can you point it over at this door here?"

[OoC: detect magic has a duration of Concentration with a maximum duration of 1 minute per level. It only takes 1 rnd to see magic auras unless you're looking for type and strength so there should still be time left on the duration.]

Betimi looks over her shoulder at Tomreal.

"Oh, I doubt it is magical, though there is no harm in checking. Do not put anything in there you cannot lose, I think it is rather hungry."

As she says that she closes the shelf on a second kobold corpse.

"And whatever you do, do not open this main door."

She suddenly grins fiercely.

"Not until we are ready to cover our retreat anyway."

Nacesh surely checks for the door as well as a generic look around plus willing to spend the extra 2 rounds per item to identify auras. Will roll spellcraft in 12 hours if needed

Nacesh flashes his detect magic at the door and he doesn't have any sense of any magic being present.  It's just seems to be a sealed metal door with the strange door set in the center that seems to be used for garbage disposal.  The seals on the door doesn't seem that sturdy and could easily be opened from the outside.  The items detect as...

1 small quarter staff -- Enchantment
1 ever burning torch -- Evocation
2 potions of cure light wounds (labeled in common) -- one detects as Conjuration, failed other spellcraft check.
Clean white bandage -- Conjuration

"An interesting idea, and not at all a bad one I suppose," he says as he watches Betimi feed the kobold's corpse into the door. Once it's clear it worked, he begins to help her, quickly dragging the bodies to be fed into the door. It felt a bit grim, but if nothing else it may sow some confusion amongst their ranks.

"Agreed also that dealing with the items is best left for later when he have more time to inspect them and discuss our options. For now we should really just get these cleaned up and continue our exploration - the quicker we can find those captives and make our escape, the better."

Unless anyone has anything else to add, he'll quickly begin scouting ahead again, starting with the southern corridor near where he'd been fighting the kobolds.

Hide:[1d20+14] = 12+14 = 26; Move Silently:[1d20+13] = 5+13 = 18; Spot:[1d20+5] = 18+5 = 23

While gathering bodies from the room beyond the portcullis Betimi asks, "Has any one searched these side chambers where the sorceror and his friend's were hiding? Just because they are dead-ends des not mean they are empty."

Upon identifying the properties of magic items Nacesh briefs the party.
"The bandage's aura pretty much matches the potion's. If so, it's a clever way to hide a magic potion in plain sight."
Mentally, he adds to self, The most clever I've ever heard of. Means someone's really clever around here. Better watch out.

"Wise," Nacesh nods at Betimi's insinuation and peeks inside.
I feel like getting absentminded, this lass here pointing out the obvious to me. the sorcerer thinks. If they hid here these may be bare guard posts but they may contain some extra equipment or clues about this foul demon or whatever it was they spoke about.
(OOC - detecting magic if still active.)
Probably no traps in here, The sorcerer finds this thought feasible and relaxing so he helps shuffling through anything inside for anything written... names, passphrases, whatever that may be a clue.

Once that done, he wanders over to Mardak to see if something's cooking there.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
