The First Mission - (Chapter 1)
#11
Marcus gave a nod and grin to Viego when he sat down.  When Sarge and Aaron sat down next, he barely kept the nervous tone from his laugh, "Morning Sarge. Yea it is. It's crazy that's its finally here. Got the Emperor coming, along with his high command just for us three."  Marcus shook his head tenuously. He had been used to the Emperor and General Underhill, as they came to visit all the time. But to have the whole high command, many of whom he had never met, coming to see what kind of soldiers they had become.  It made him feel like a nervous child again.

He finished his first plate of breakfast and got up for seconds.

Shit, don't worry about it boys, just snap off that crisp salute, he glanced to Aaron with a smirk, the proper salute, not the one fingered approach, then grinned. The Emperor knows what you are boys are capable of, he's just going to show you off to his fellows in the command structure.

He'll probably have you guys give a demonstration of what you can do. Personally, I don't think any of you have anything to be nervous about. Besides, he paused taking a drink of coffee, if you fuck up it'll reflect poorly on me, and you all don't want to make me look bad do you?

Viegeo was already half way through his first plate when Marcus got up. He took a moment to catch a breath, and then grinned at the others. "Should be fun. Honestly today isn't the fun part when they give us our assignment that is the fun part."  Viego nodded to the Sarge and Aaron. He then finished his plate, in large somewhat disturbing bites really. After that he got up for seconds.

I am the very model of a Coalition Serviceman. replied Aaron, performing a strict military salute with fork still in hand. I'm not worried. And if I'm not worried, then everyone else should be doubly unworried. He paused with a piece of bacon mid bite. Well I mean zero times two is still zero but you're catching what I'm throwing here yeah?

Having been directed by one of the soldiers where his new charges were likely to be at this hour, Nolan soon finds himself entering the cafeteria.

Aware that immediately all eyes are on him, as a stranger, he calmly gets in line with the other soldiers, and grabs a cup of coffee and some toast. He'd already eaten his own breakfast hours before, but a cup of coffee was welcome, and he suspected doing something as ordinary as eating might ease suspicions.  He instinctively chooses an empty table.

He consciously makes the decision to sit with his back to his new charges and their trainer, after giving them a simple nod by way of greeting.

Nolan is dressed in his black Coalition dress uniform, with his sidearm holstered in the leather dress holster. He takes off his hat and sets it on the table beside him while he sips his coffee and nibbles the toast.

As Nolan moves into the facility, he gets a chill running down his right side.  He turns to see two women looking at him with very hungry eyes.

Instantly his stomach turns as he re cognizes what they are... Psi-Stalkers.  These two have had cosmetic alteration done to seem a bit more human. Honestly, it only made them more unnerving. If these two haven't been able to detect Magic corruption in the three boys, then he must be the final test.  The one to notice the physical details? If they had magic though, then why haven't those two detected it?

Shaking off the chill he continued into the Mess Hall, though he did catch out of the corner of his eye that the two Psi-Stalkers were now following him.  Considering those things didn't need 'food' or 'drink', their following him was likely going to prove interesting.

Marcus stands in line for his second plate trying to keep his nerves in check.  Hell, he felt like he would rather face a dragon than high command.  Maybe some pancakes would go over well for the second round. Good food and drink always seemed to steady him.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
