The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One)
---Everyone---

Searching the room and the ah ...rats ...completely, the group finds quite a few valuables. All of which were extremely likely to have been leavings from previous victims of this particularly 'rat trap'.  A full purse of coins was found just outside one of the rat holes, presumably dropped by whatever poor sod was drug into it.  As well, an assortment of random coins were pulled from the rats themselves or collected from the floor where they had presumably been spilled. Like the coins found in the rats were ingested along with their previous victims. The coins apparently just harder to pass.

(DM - The group finds the following. You can split this up amongst yourselves. If anyone wants to conceal what they found from the group, this will require a deception roll.)

Treasure CR 0-4

62 = 10 Electrum
80 = 10 gold
29 = 17 copper
16 = 17 copper
48 = 14 silver

---Nightingale---

As the others search the room and nasty little beasts remains, Nightingale peeks down the stairs into the next room.  She catches the legs and boots of the big knight vanish up a rat hole.  Noticing the lack of protest, it's a safe bet he is dead and the rats are dragging him off to...enjoy their catch.

Arius gathers the money he finds and places it in the pouch, he makes no move to take the pouch however.

"We will worry about dividing treasure found when we make it back up to town. We can't exactly spends coin below-ground can we. And who knows, we might need to purchase supplies as a group. I'd be fine if Kriv or Athos carry the coin for now." Naming the two companions he deems the most intelligent or wise, and also as long-lived races,  the least likely to be greedy where coin is concerned. As frivolous as he is with his family's coin and his own, he knows his fellows here might not have deep pockets.

He picks up his lantern again in his free hand, and sheathing his rapier, he keeps his whip coiledloosley in his right hand, equipped and ready for use.

"I am ready to lead on, once everyone is ready."

He stand s near the top of the stairs down.

Mivia places the 14sp's she found in the pouch and says, "Let's hurry along.  The citadel won't clear itself."

Athos nods and takes the pouch from Arius. He puts it neatly away in his backpack for safe keeping. Then he glances down the stairs with an openly disturbed expression before giving Nightingale a questioning look. "Did you see what became of our other three companions? Gauging from the silence, I suspect nothing good."

"The knight is dead, food for the vermin. No sign of the others, which doesn't bode well." Nightingale replies to Athos.

Stepping back from the stairs, Nightingale nods to Arius and lets him take the lead.

Seeing that the group is ready to follow, Arius starts to descend the stairs.

Mivia will follow.

Kriv tries to shake it off. He had to admit the suddenness of it was shocking, it wasn't like reading in books for sure.  Clearing his throat he finds his voice. "Perhaps we should move on?"

Already beginning to descend the steps, Arius looks back at Kriv quizzically.  Such an odd statement, when they already were moving. Hopefully the shock of the rats attack hadn't rattled the dragonborn too much.

---Everyone---

The old stone fortress peeks up from below as the bulk of it has fallen into the ravine.  The fortress was quite impressive back in it's day but has long since been forgotten by those that built it. The bit the group seems to be standing on is an old slightly leaning tower that still peeks above the cracked crenellations and lightless windows.

As the group begins to descend to the lower level, everything is quiet, though a cold breeze blows up from below, bringing with it the scents of dust and the faint traces of rot, all mixed with the slight smell of fresh blood.

(DM - You're all moving down the stairs.  Feel free to roll perception and indicate if you walk fully down the stairs to the next level.)

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
