Missing Caravan
[OoC: I tried waiting so as to give players a chance to post...]

Betimi launches her attack but it misses.  Then Nacesh points at the Stirge and fires another bolt of energy.  It zig zags through the air and blows the critter out of the air.  Selena pulls a sling out, loads it, then whirls it over head before blasting the crippled stirge out of the sky.

At this point the Guard from inside the building manages to limp outside to see what was going on.  He spots you launching attacks into the gorge and asks, "What is it?  What's going on?"

[OoC: Ok, they are all dead.  Continue with what you were doing...]

Betimi straightens and glances over at the guard, nods at him, then turns to continue her watch over her companions at the bottom of the gorge.

"Some of our companions are down there looking for any survivors amongst the wreckage of some wagons, apparently the smell of blood attracted some stirges."

To Selina she says "Mardak is looking quite weakened, I am not sure he will be able to climb up easily."

She ignores the guard's likely startled reaction to her appearance, her eyes scanning the gorge for threats.

Selina watches the overgrown mosquito explode in a bloom of grotesque gore, nods briefly at it, then nods to Betimi's request. She turns to the guard and, hands on her hips with her best, most patient smile, tells him

"You, sir, should be resting. I will not have my patients open freshly healed wounds so soon after triage. Now sit."

She points at the ground, still smiling, before turning to Betimi

"Mardak used a rope to get down there, yes?"

A small gust of wind passes by Mardak and threatens to take the last shred of pride from the Cowboy Hexblade.  His hand darts out and snags his hat, putting it back on his head.  "Fuck you wind!"  He snarls and spits.

"Dem skeeters are big in this here country."  The almost skeletal Hexblade points out the three fist sized holes in his body.  "I would hate to see a bird."  He chuckles which causes him to wince.  "Where's my darlin?"  He looks up and sees his black eyed beauty.  His attention turns to the Gnome "You saved my hide.  What do I owe you?"

Betimi nods toward the rope leading from Beast's pack over the edge of the cliff.

"We will easily be able to haul him up with Beast. I.. was just concerned over their well being. Try not to let the insufferable man know."

She shakes her head ruefully, then calls down.

"We've got watch from up here, between the three of us hopefully nothing will come near you now!  Were there any survivors?! Any signs of the creatures that did this?!"

"Survivors?!?"  He starts to chuckle a bit and almost hacks up a lung.  "Well thanks for your concern princess.  Just lemme tell ya, we're fine!!"  Mardak decides to wrangle a few boards loose while muttering under his breath.  "Uh yeah, there's an ugly fucker down here.  Looks kinda dead.  Probably Magic missiles or maybe a bunch of stones from above...Don't know where that came from though.  Any guesses?!"

"And here I thought you could shoot the hair offa fleas' dick from that distance!"  He takes his hat off and wipes the sweat off his brow.  "Also, looks like this is the caravan we were looking for...Ah hell enough o' this shit."  After puttting his hat on, he grabs the rope and attaches it to himself.  "Pull me up!"

Selina peers over at Betimi, wondering what exactly might be going on between the two of them, but decides not to press matters.  She hears Mardak calling out to be pulled up and nods to herself...because he can't really see her, turning her back to her 'patient' and leaning over the cliff to call down to Mardak.

"Come master Mardak.  Grab the rope, we will bring you up to safety."

((Guessing that an assisted pull by both Selina and beast should be able to lift him.))

"You owe me nothing, of course," Jonath replies. "We agreed to form this group and undertake this endeavor together, and inherent in that agreement was helping one another. Besides, I'd have helped anyone in such a situation. Go on up, though, and let good Selena minister to your wounds. I will take another quick look around down here - I may be able to squeeze into an area you could not," he finishes, motioning Mardak to the rope.

He then continues to investigate the wagon, hoping for any signs of survivors and especially information about the fate of the tavern girl's family that had begun this whole affair in the first place.

While Mardak gets pulled up, Jonath continues to search the wagon.  He doesn't discover anything else but when he's about to call out to be pulled back up with the others, Jonath just happens to see the dock on the other side of the bridge and notices what looks like the stem of a riverboat that is sunk 3/4 of the way into the water at the end of the dock.  Most likely it was sunk but with the extra rain over the last few days the river current has become stronger, causing boat to shift in the mud.

The guard does what Selena tells him and sits on the ground with his back propped up against the building.  He closes his eyes and waits for her return.

Betimi assists Selina and beast in pulling Mardak up but doesn't take her eyes off of the activities at the bottom of the ravine.  Those damn'ed overgrown mosquitoes had been upon her allies so fast the first time, she was not about to let it happen again.

"You look like something a rothe chewed and spat up." She says when she sees Mardak struggle over the edge of the ravine. "Let Selina have a look at you." Her tone is perhaps overly stern.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
