[IC] New Crobuzon & the World Beyond
[you should probably make a new spot check since it would be a new round.]

"The creatures are most certainly here, or were fairly recently, and made these beings attack each other.  Strange...  After just one encounter with them, their tactics are as simplistic as can be.  I'm sure any witless worm could come up with something more fresh than these misbegotten piles of flying flesh ever could manage."

[[OoC: Selina is attempting to anger them enough to draw them out...in other words, she's trying to influence their attitude.  I...think that's Diplomacy but I'm not positive.  In any case...New Spot check:]]

With her darkvision, Betimi can see part of the critter's wing peeking out from behind a bunch of large leaves.  Since it is blind, and can only sense things through sound, scent, and vibration organs, it's likely unaware it's wing can be seen.

When Selina finishes speaking ill of the creatures, Simon replies, "I doubt they are smart enough to be taunted into action.  They seem about as smart as your average house cat.  Cunning, yes!  Intelligent, no."

The critter doesn't seem to react to Selina's taunts.

Tomeal:  Spot: [1d20+5] = 2+5 = 7

Simon: Spot: [1d20+10] = 2+10 = 12

Both failed.

How far is it from Betimi to the creature?

Abruptly Betimi stands up and takes a 5 foot step around the orc's body, as if she were moving to get a better look at the corpse. As she does a stroke of lightning descends from the roof of the cavern, striking the creature.

Lighting Strike [3d6] = 12
DC 16 Reflex for 1/2
If need caster level check Caster level check [1d20 +4] = 5+4 = 9 not sure if needed for supernatural abilities rather than spell

Quote:Lightning Strike: Once per round as a standard action, you can call down a bolt of lightning that strikes any target you designate, as long as it is within 10 feet per effective binder level of your position. The lightning bolt deals 3d6 points of electricity damage, plus an additional 1d6 points of electricity damage for every three effective binder levels you possess above 5th. A successful Reflex save halves this damage. This ability functions outdoors, indoors, underground, and even underwater.

[OoC: In the IRL game, that Lightning Strike is my Binder's favorite ability.  It does ok damage but it always hits and it's cool to call down lightning on your foes.]

[OoC: I do not believe Supernatural abilities require a level check.  It's just spells and spell-like abilities.]

There's a crackle of lightning on the roof of the cavern and before the critter even has a moment to sense the vibration, register the crackle or detect a hint of ozone, a bolt of lightning flashes downward into the vegetation.  In an instant, the creature's flesh dissolves and its fluids flash-boil causing the ragewing to explode!

Reflex save: [1d20+3] = 10+3 = 13; Fail; Causing 12 damage; Ragewing is at -11 hit points!!

And... that's the end of combat!

Selina's head snaps around when she hears the crackle of lightning sizzling through the air to proceed the stench of charred flesh.  She grins, somehow knowing that the creature is done for, and walls over to give Betimi a gentle pat on the shoulder.

"Well done.  Quite an impressive feat, I must say.  Could you tell me a little bit about what else you can do?"

Selina had never seen this capability in her before.

[[OoC: At level four, 3d6 damage every turn is fantastic. Especially if it's auto-hit.]]

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
